Club Season Shoutouts: 2028 Outsides

We are concluding the month of July with several articles highlighting players from specific player groups and classes who turned in outstanding 2025 club seasons. These players will be rolling into the high school volleyball season with most college camps in the rearview mirror. The state of Washington won't have practices until August 25th, giving athletes a much-needed break from the grind. (if they want it!)    Short followed up a fantastic freshman season at Meridian with a terrific club campaign playing six-rotation OH for Apex NW 15 Summit. The Summit squad consisted of a strong group of 10 players, nine of whom are in the 2028 class, and ultimately, the team finished third at PSR Regionals. Short has a high volleyball IQ and mixes in big swings and smart change of pace shots when she is working against a big block. She is a dynamo on defense who can run down balls to the corner and make an acrobatic dig.     Dubois played with a competitive CRU 16 MAX team that played well at the three qualifiers they competed in, playing in the USA Division at each. The Selah standout is a six-rotation outside with high-level skills in serve receive and a springy offensive game at the pin. Dubois is quick on her approach and has trained to score using a fast-tempo offensive attack. She will be a key part of the Selah squad this fall.     Sundquist made plays at every position at the net for Northwest Juniors during the club season. The versatile 2028 from Cedar Park Christian played tough as a middle, showing a strong block and aggressive play on fifty-fifty balls. Offensively, Sundquist has a quick arm and an excellent approach, featuring a big double-arm lift. Her ability to play defense and move with urgency makes her a candidate to end up on the pin full-time.     Yoshino is an excellent all-around player who is highly explosive for her size. She rips accurate swings out of the pipe for kills and is fearless when attacking a big block. Defensively, she maintained the same terrific play that she had concluded the school season with —diming balls in serve receive and getting to tips that seemed out of reach.     Dougherty has a live arm- she gets on top of the ball and buries it for kills that eat up defenders. She was an efficient scorer from both pins for Spaceneedle 16 Blitz, and the team captured a bid to Nationals in the USA Division.
