Deck’s Deep Dive: July, The Month To Be Aggressive

In this article:
So June was a busy month of traveling, and now I have COVID, so July is a month for Kansas Prospects to be aggressive if they would like to be featured by Prep Dig.
I will be at home quarantining and will have time to write reports. So that means athletes should be aggressive in selling themselves over the month. I also plan to take some time off for a trip later in the month, so coverage will be front-loaded this month.
What do I mean by being aggressive?
1) Feel free to email me or DM on X with a recent video of you competing. deckscoutks@gmail.com and @KSScoutDeck
2) Claim your Prep Dig profiles and provide as much information as you feel comfortable with. Adding a profile pic, game highlights, and contact information is very valuable to our scouts and college coaching subscribers. Here is a link to claim a Prep Dig Profile. https://prepdig.com/prospect-index/#claim-profile-anchor Remember, it's free to claim a profile, but to read scouting reports regularly, you will need a subscription. Use the Coupon Code Deckard30 to save 30 percent off a new subscription.
3) Send your prep schedules to me via email or on X if you are interested in me scouting one of your matches. I will be working on my schedule for the fall hot and heavy over the next two weeks.
4) Share when you get a college offer. You get an offer from one school, and let the world know, then another school sees that you might end up with two, then three. You see how it works.
5) Feel free to register for the Prep Dig Stock Up Showcase in Kansas City on July 27. The event was canceled once, and it could be again if registration for it is too low. Here is a link to register for the showcase. You can use the Coupon Code DeckardDig2025 to save some money on registration. https://events.prepdig.com/e/1511/register/missourikansas-stock-up-showcase
I don't plan on leaving the house for a couple of weeks, but when I get healthy, I plan to attend a summer league tournament in Seneca on July 16, the Washburn Elite Camp on July 18, and the Stockup Showcase on July 27th.
Here is a look at two prospects who turned in a big week at Nationals in Dallas, and three that I hope to see at the aforementioned events.
Take advantage of the big man getting sick, I will have a lot of free time on my hands in the next couple of weeks, and will also be working on a round of updates to the rankings before the prep season starts in August. Reach out to me to get featured in a report in July!
The Topeka Saints finished in 3rd place in the 15U USA Tournament in Dallas, Texas, last week. The squad had two members named to the All-Tournament team. Walter is the team's setter and runs the offense with accuracy and intensity. She heads into her sophomore season at Hayden as the Wildcats' starting setter. She is ranked No. 6 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028 and is the No. 1-ranked setter in that class. She is a multi-sport athlete who also plays softball and basketball. If it weren't for the one-week moratorium in Kansas this month, I am not sure she would take any time off. However, knowing her, she will find a court, a diamond, or just cage somewhere to put in work.

Schmidtlein is the second member of the Saints to earn All-Tournament recognition in Dallas. She is ranked No. 1 overall by Prep Dig Kansas in the Class of 2028. She is a physical hitter who has increased her strength over the past year. Her confidence in her game is unyielding, and there is no stage or level she is scared of. The Hayden sophomore will have a goal of earning a second straight state tournament appearance for the Wildcats in 2025.

It's been awhile since I have seen Henry compete. If I make to Nemaha Central on the 16th, she will be a player to focus in on. I last saw her during the past club season, so I am interested to see how she has progressed. She is ranked No. 23 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. Henry is a six-rotation athlete who I feel should be playing Division II ball after high school. Will see where she lands. JUCO coaches in Kansas should for sure be reaching out to her.

Halstead's Euwer is ranked No. 77 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She is registered to compete at the Washburn University Elite Camp. She was also recently at the Pittsburg State Elite Camp. I do not doubt that she will end up with multiple offers from in-state Division II programs. She is a gifted athlete who is very coachable and has shown her passion for the game on several different levels. She also has a winning pedigree as she will look to help Halstead defend its State Championship Crown in 2025.

It's rare that I get to see a Western Kansas prospect more than once in the summer, but Litton is a talented athlete who is registered for the Missouri/Kansas StockUp Showcase on July 27. Beloit participated in the MO/KAN Tournament at Washburn University in June. Like her prep coach, Litton is not afraid to log some miles to compete with and against the best in the state. This is the second year in a row she plans to attend a Prep Dig live event. Litton will be heading into the prep season with a chip on her shoulder, as Beloit's prep season ended with a disappointing trip to the state tournament last year in Hutch. She and the rest of the Trojans will be hungry for a title in 2025.
