Familiar Faces At Washburn Elite Camp

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Washburn University hosted its annual Elite Prospect Camp on June 18.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The upside to scouting a camp like this is that I get to see a ton of athletes. Some I am familiar with and have scouted multiple times. While there are other athletes whom I might know the name, but have not seen them compete in person. Then there are the athletes who show up, show out, and get on my radar for the first time.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is the first of two reports today on athletes who attended the camp. She participated with an elite group of athletes, some of whom have already verbally committed to play for the Ichabods after high school. Most of the early drills I watched were defensive oriented, and she held her own and showed that she can move and play backrow if needed. Her best skills, though, are as a hitter and blocker. She is a state tournament champion whom I saw play at the Class 3A State Tournament last season. She is still uncomitted and showed off her skills hoping for a possible offer from the Ichabods. I did not get to see her set much, but I liked her defensive poture and she made consistent passes during the early drills. She is all arms and legs, making her difficult not to notice. I saw Davee earlier this summer at the Pittsburg State Elite Camp. She appeared to me to be having more fun in this camp and competed more relaxed. She is a multiple-sport athlete who also plays softball. She is primarily a pitcher and first baseman, but has also played in the outfield. She can hit from the middle or the outside. She competed in a group that also included tall players [player_tooltip player_id='551804' first='Addison' last='Schwinn'] (Jefferson West) and [player_tooltip player_id='553079' first='Rebekah' last='Lassey'] (Holton). She hung with both of them, and I am guessing the three have an impressive showing during the afternoon scrimmage session. Campbell is ranked No. 37 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
