Lassey was the athlete at this showcase whom I am most familiar with. I have seen her play multiple times. She was one of the tallest and most physically intimidating of the 50-some athletes in attendance. She could have packed it in and rested on her experience with me, but she showed up and showed out.
She recorded 210 kills and 90 blocks during her junior season with the Wildcats. She is ranked No. 19 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.

Lassey moves from No. 34 to No. 18 overall. She took on more of a leadership role for the Holton Wildcats as a junior. She now has state tournament experience under her belt, and the under-the-radar prospect has improved her social media game to increase her chances of getting noticed. She is expected to participate in the Prep Dig Exposure Event in Kansas City, Kansas, on December 14. She finished with 210 kills, and 90 blocks last season. I have been sharing her name with JUCO coaches lately. I feel she is a Division II prospect, but she could gain a ton from getting quality coaching at the JUCO level and then head to a Division I program afterward.

I saw Lassey play during the summer, regular season, and at the Class 4A State Tournament. You could say I am as familiar with her game as I am with the current plot of Fire Country. She has been featured twice recently in reports featuring kill and block leaders in Kansas. She is serious about her college recruitment and has taken all avenues to find a path to playing college ball. I am excited that she is registered for the December Showcase.

Lassey has a chance to make some serious headway in her recruitment entering her junior season. College coaches searching for depth at middle blocker will want to give her a look. She plays primarily front row on a deep and talented Holton squad. During her sophomore season, she recorded 40 kills and 33 blocks. She has a long frame and a big reach suited for hammering balls at the net. Lassey is ranked No. 34 overall by Prep Dig Kansas.

Lassey and the Holton Wildcats will be competing in Pool A on Saturday as well. I saw Holton play last weekend at Seaman, so my chances of watching the Wildcats this weekend are slim, but you never know how each schedule will play out and stay on time. Lassey is a physical middle who had a solid hitting day at Seaman last week. Holton will start the day by playing Rose Hill on Court 3. The Wildcats and Rockets will be competing on both days of the tournament. Since the Rocket players are staying in Topeka overnight, I suggest they eat at LaRocca’s or Taco Villa while in town!
