We're spending the last and next few days covering all of the happenings at both the Freshman Showcase and the Stock Up Showcase that was hosted graciously by Academy Volleyball Club on the east side of Indianapolis. Athletes from five different states came to play for us, and we were blessed with a ton of talent. Let's take a closer look at the setting position to see who really stood out to us.

Leading us off is an under-the-radar setter who will be someone to watch next spring on Rev's 17-1 squad. Quick and accurate, Jenna was regularly finding the right hitter in the right situation in drills as well as in the full team play. Her individual skill set is polished and trained---her hands received each and every ball in the same spot every time, she got her feet to every ball, and tempi never changed because of in- or out-of-system passing. I liked this kid from the start, and so did many coaches in attendance on Sunday.

Calm and unassuming, Addison played bigger than her 5'7" frame might otherwise suggest. Getting to a ton of tight passes and making them hittable was her calling card throughout the drill section of the day. She also has deceptively long legs, allowing her footwork to get her easily to every ball regardless of where it's passed. Location was never an issue either, leading me to believe that there's a ton of training and reps under her belt over the past few years. Solid and consistent, Addison is a coach's setter---coachable, hard-working and dependable.

Aubrey's athleticism and natural volleyball acuity shone on Sunday, despite being an undersized setter. From small-town Rochester in northern Indiana, Miss Wilson is a quick and agile setter with an ability to make the spectacular look ordinary. Quickness is not an issue, and her upper body strength is clear when watching her serve or push a ball all the way outside in out-of-system passes. As a multisport athlete, in addition to her location, she hasn't had as much high-level club training, but you wouldn't know it because of how athletic she is. She did let me know, however, that she's with NIVA this spring, and should be included as one of the better setters in north central Indiana.

I was supremely impressed with Tatum's demeanor and willingness to try new situations on Sunday. FIrst off, the size helps, as she was bigger than most of the setters in attendance. Second, the solid club training was in full force---high hands, solid location and tempo, and regimented footwork---when she was on the court. I hadn't heard much of her in previous seasons because of my inability to see Monon Select at tournaments. That being said, she's up a full age group to the 17-1 at Monon, and should be able to hold her own with the older kids just fine. She's also given me a really good excuse to pay attention to Monon more.

One of the top setters in Indiana in the class of '28, Addy should be one of the first to start receiving offers in the summer of '26. Fast, accurate, smooth and skilled, Miss Kilroy didn't miss a beat when either the passers or the hitters changed in the drill section of the showcase. Almost the tallest setter that came to us on Sunday, Addy used every bit of her length to be adept on the block, setting tight passes, or taking long strides to get her feet to out-of-system passes. Although her position listed to the left includes a right side possibility, trust me, she's a solid 5-1 setter that has D1 written all over her.

Traveling all the way to Fort Wayne to play her club ball (about two hours one-way), Emilie is a nice-sized setter that can go get bad passes as well as she can take up space on the block. At current, she's developing her back set, but anything in front of her has good tempo and good location. Her hands are also soft enough that control won't be an issue, but I'd like to see her hands a little more on top of her head when setting. Her upper body is quite strong, which makes her setting more from the shoulders than her hands. Not a problem, though, her consistency is what got our attention.

The second of three setters in the same class at Center Grove, Ava is lithe, but doesn't act like it when running an offense. Strong-handed and quick, Ava gets to a ton of passes that aren't perfect, all while making the next ball better for her hitters. Constantly positive and fully coachable, Miss Jones made solid decisions in the full-team play that some setters in attendance couldn't. She does appear a bit undersized when blocking, so her projection for me is as a 6-2 setter with solid defensive and serving capabilities.

The THIRD of three setters from Center Grove in the same class of '28, Miss Hyde is probably the fastest of the three. She can do things the other two can't because of that speed, and is currently working on accuracy in placement and tempo once she gets there. Again, her speed will bail her passers out regularly, and the folks at TI have done well to ensure that accuracy can be coupled with that foot speed. That being said, this Ava is similar to the last Ava at CG in that both project to be a 6-2 setter, with athleticism and speed factors for both.
