September Slam Day Two Notable DS/Setters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One loss in pool play ended up meaning no shot at the September Slam championship this year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It turned into a matter of finishing strong once eliminated from contending for the crown. Montgomery County wound up beating Madison Central to take third and Newport Central Catholic won the fifth place game against Boone County to finish the tournament with a 3-2 record. The Thoroughbreds won just one game in each of the last two September Slams.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Franklin County won for the second time in the tournament, besting Campbell County in the seventh place game. Conn identified the hot hitters and did what she could to set them up for success. Conn also made a number of good first touches. Conn said whenever the team's energy is up, the Indians play a lot better. Her confidence rises every game. Kohrs is getting to the point where the coaching staff can put her where needed to help the Thoroughbreds succeed. Kohrs tears into balls when the other setter is in the game and dishes out sound sets on other plays, running the offense efficiently. Kohrs has a good vertical trying to disrupt plays at the net. She makes crisp first passes to jumpstart the offense.
