Who's "Up Next" In Wisconsin?

<p>Let's talk about the future of volleyball in Wisconsin. We got to see just a few of the talented young athletes we will be watching over the next 5 years. I spoke with them about talent and how it is just a fraction of what will help them be successful. More importantly, we talked about the things that will help you stand out at showcases, tryouts, ID clinics, etc. The intangibles. Coaches evaluate young athletes not just on their physical skills, but also on a variety of "intangible" qualities that demonstrate their character, work ethic, and potential to succeed in a competitive environment. These are the traits that can set a player apart from those who are just talented athletes</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Coachability</h2>   <p>This is one of the most important intangibles. Coaches want athletes who are open to feedback, receptive to new ideas and strategies, and willing to learn and adapt. This shows that an athlete respects their coaches and is committed to personal and athletic growth.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Kowalewski was always talking about what was happening on the court, whether she was in the drill or waiting in line. I only heard positive things from her as she cheered on other players and offered high fives. The other thing I really liked was when I saw her approach the coach to ask questions for clarity on the drill. Not because she wasn't listening, but because she wanted to make sure she was doing the drill correctly.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Osowski is a special athlete. I noticed a court coach giving her a suggestion to try and she immediately applied it to her next rep. And even though it didn't work immediately, it didn't stop her from trying again and succeeding.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game IQ/Intelligence</h2>   <p>Beyond physical skills, coaches look for athletes who understand the game. This includes making smart decisions under pressure, having good situational awareness, and being able to quickly comprehend and execute game plans and strategies. They also look for individuals who can think independently and don't have to be told how to strategize to win.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">I really enjoyed watching Demiralp set. She had fast and efficient footwork and she was jumpesetting just about everything. Her back sets had great location and I loved watching her get her backrow attackers involved during 6v6. Demiralp is smart and very aware of whats happening on the court around her.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Hiller demonstrated solid court awareness as well as kicked things up a gear to chase down a sprayed pass. She makes smart plays at the net and does a great job getting everyone involved in the offense.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Jansen has an impressive number of different tools in her toolbox and that includes a number of offensive shots. She seems to know just when to use them and she has great court awareness. Jansen read the play well and knew what was happening on both sides of the net at all times.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"></h2>   <p></p>
