Week 3 of the KC Metro [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] 15 comes a day late, but it's here! We have a little drama in play in these weeks' rankings that will definitely raise some eyebrows.

1. Lee's Summit West (14-2) Prev: 11

This may be the biggest jump in the short three-year history of the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] 15. This may also be the first time a Missouri school has earned the top spot. Earned is the keyword here. After suffering what I called an ugly loss the week prior, Lee's Summit West came out and beat three of the top teams in the Bi-State area. They knocked out previously undefeated Lafayette. They knocked out last week's number one and two teams in the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] 15. It's dramatic, but if you beat the top two teams in the city and the top team in the state of Missouri, it's warranted, right? In the five-match march through the MO-Kan tournament, [player_tooltip player_id='729549' first='Jaelyn' last='Jordan'] averaged 18.4 assists per match.

2. Blue Valley West (9-1) Prev: 1

The first defeat of the season came at the hands of the new number one, Lee's Summit West. As a result, we drop West just one spot after a strong MoKan run and a win over Blue Valley Southwest last week.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas (10-2) Prev: 2

As with Blue Valley West, losing your only match of the weekend to the new number one team won't cause a huge drop, so that the Saints will move down one spot. [player_tooltip player_id='222090' first='Alayna' last='Vaeth'] averaged 17 assists per game last week.

4. Blue Valley Southwest (9-2) Prev: 3

Two defeats this year, both to Blue Valley West, the then number one team, so though they prefer the win, they won't take a hit for that defeat, dropping just one spot with everyone ahead of them. In the loss, [player_tooltip player_id='222097' first='Taylor' last='Stanley'] produced 9 kills.

5. Mill Valley (13-3) Prev: 6

Mill Valley jumps up a spot after beating the then 4th-ranked Olathe West squad.

6. St. James (14-2) Prev: 5

After a weekend tournament, St. James had only one match last week, and they beat Bishop Miege in straight sets behind six aces from [player_tooltip player_id='445177' first='Abigail' last='May'].

7. Olathe West (11-3) Prev: 4

The Owls drop a few spots after losing in four to then number six Mill Valley. In defeat, [player_tooltip player_id='807773' first='Ella' last='Stowell'] delivered big with 22 kills.

8. Lee's Summit North (16-3) Prev: 8

The Broncos stay steady despite two added numbers in the loss column. They were defeated by the then top-ranked Blue Valley West and a Park Hill South team just below them.

9. Park Hill South (11-5) Prev: 9

South is going to get the benefit of playing what I believe is a tough schedule. Every defeat has come to a team ranked in the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] 15, except for one, which was to the top team in the state. They beat Lee's Summit North over the weekend and lost to Lafayette.

10. Oak Grove (15-0) Prev: 13

Still undefeated and moving up three spots is Oak Grove,

11. Park Hill (7-1) Prev: 7

First loss of the season to St. Teresa's last week drops them four spots. [player_tooltip player_id='222072' first='Brooke' last='Brown'] had 15 digs in defeat.

12. Lansing (12-4) Prev: 15

A perfect week for Lansing will move them up to 12.

13. Raymore Peculiar (9-3) Prev: NR

Let's welcome Ray-Pec to the party. They sit at 9-3. After losing their first match of the year, their only losses are to Lee's Summit North and Lee's Summit West, who you will find listed above. They also hold a win over Belton.

14. Smithville (12-2) Prev: NR

Smithville has started the year strong, with its two defeats coming to 7th-ranked Lee's Summit North and 10th-ranked Park Hill. Jaycee Tyrell has paced the Warriors with 3 kills per set.

(Tie) 15. Blue Valley North (12-6) Prev: 14

We will keep the Mustangs where they are. They took three on the chin, but to all teams ranked and beat the teams they were supposed to beat.

(Tie) 15. Olathe Northwest (12-4) Prev: 12

A win over Park Hill South is what keeps the Ravens in the rankings after a tough loss to Olathe North.
