Six…Seven Sophomores Making Waves in Wisconsin

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These sophomores are making some waves this year.&nbsp; Some of them are new names.&nbsp; Who do we need to have on the radar for those athletes building a great season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/wi/mosinee/mosinee-indians/athletes/paetyn-jirschele/volleyball/stats/?careerid=134dv9bk1shp9">Paetyn Jirschele</a> - Mosinee</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mosinee is generating a lot of momentum heading into October.&nbsp; They just took home the Appleton East tournament title.&nbsp; They went 5-0 with wins over Eau Claire Memorial, Green Bay Southwest, Kewaskum, Milton, and SPASH.&nbsp; This brings their overall record to 26-3 on the season.&nbsp; Jirschele has been the catalyst to this offense as a setter where she has nearly 650 assists so far this season, good for nearly ten per set.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/wi/hartland/lake-country-lutheran-lightning/athletes/grace-luedke/volleyball/stats/?careerid=devjn591n8a44">Grace Luedke</a> - Lake Country Lutheran</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Leudke has sparked the Lightning this season where she is nearing 500 assists on the year and has 120 digs.&nbsp; She receives the ball high and is able to find her attackers for a favorable matchup.&nbsp; When the opportunity is there, Luedke can be offensive scoring points on her own.&nbsp; The Lightning are sitting at 18-7 and will be a team to watch come late October come tournament time.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='724543' first='Erin' last='Siegenthaler']- McDonell Central </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='724543' first='Erin' last='Siegenthaler'] is one of the best in the state when it comes to assists per set.&nbsp; The sophomore averages 10.5 assists per set and runs a balanced offense.&nbsp; There are five attackers on her team who average over two kills per set.&nbsp; One of them is her sister, Anne Siegenthaler.&nbsp; The Macs are always a team to keep note of when it comes to a state tournament run.&nbsp; This season they are 22-2 overall, they have only lost one set in September and have had some key victories against Eau Claire Regis and Stanly-Boyd.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='522100' first='Saylor' last='Meulemans']  - Freedom</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I was able to see Meulmans live last week when her Freedom team took on Luxemburg-Casco.&nbsp; The Irish may have fell 3-1, but the performance of Meulmans was impressive.&nbsp; Meuelmans had 24 kills in four sets.&nbsp; She was able to hit the sharp angles, tool the block, but what I was most impressed with was when she used her off speed and roll shots to keep the defense off balanced.&nbsp; Freedom has a big conference matchup with Oconto Falls this week which could have sectional seeding implications as well.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='762613' first='Megan' last='Komarek'] and [player_tooltip player_id='843631' first='Madelyn' last='Anderson'] - Rib Lake</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rib Lake has spent some time in the top five of the D5 rankings and this is in large part to [player_tooltip player_id='762613' first='Megan' last='Komarek'] and [player_tooltip player_id='843631' first='Madelyn' last='Anderson'].&nbsp; The two sophomores are nearing the 200 kill mark individually while Anderson has nearly 60 blocks on the season.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='522525' first='Emma' last='Liebergen'] - Oshkosh West</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Oshkosh West is back at it again, following up a strong 2024 season with a 20-4 record so far in 2025.&nbsp; This is a senior dominated team, but sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='522525' first='Emma' last='Liebergen'] has been a big time scorer from the pin averaging three kills per set.&nbsp; Liebergen has plenty of athleticism where she has length, big hops, and knows how to use the block as well as change up her angles.&nbsp; Another sophomore to keep tabs on for West is [player_tooltip player_id='743023' first='Kayana' last='Turner'] who is a physical attacker who can terminate.&nbsp; Thursday night is a big match for this squad who will take on league leading Kimberly.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='586861' first='Willow' last='Kumprey'] - New Berlin West</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>New Berlin West is a dangerous team where they have picked up some big wins over the likes of Pewaukee, Wauwatosa East, and cross town rival New Berlin Eisenhower.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='586861' first='Willow' last='Kumprey'] made contributions as a freshman and has followed that up with a big sophomore year.&nbsp; She is averaging 3.5 kills per set, leads her team in ace serves, and is second in digs.&nbsp; Her all around ability is shining on her squad and will be important as they build momentum into tournament time.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
