I scouted two matches on September 11 at Shawnee Heights High School.

The first saw the host Shawnee Heights defeat the Silver Lake Eagles in two sets.

In the second match, Manhattan defeated the T-Birds in three sets.

This is the third report covering athletes from those two matches.

Welcome to the Prep Dig Kansas family, ladies.

[player_tooltip player_id='885605' first='Sami' last='Baum'], 6'0”, MB/OH, Shawnee Heights ‘27

Baum was not an athlete I saw compete during the club season. She is an aggressive hitter and has a long reach. She got quality playing time among a crowded front row. Shawnee Heights has 12 athletes on its roster, and they all saw time on the court. Baum had 20 kills, five digs, and six serve receptions in the two matches I scouted.

[player_tooltip player_id='885607' first='Brooklyn' last='Hummer'], 5'11”, OH/MB, Shawnee Heights, '27

Hummer is another athlete who adds depth to the Thunderbirds' hitting options. I did not keep her stats in the two matches. However, she came off the bench and added a physical presence at the net for Shawnee Heights.

[player_tooltip player_id='885601' first='Evie' last='Banks'], 5'9”, OH, Manhattan, '28

Banks is a front-row utility piece for the Indians. The sophomore hitter has a physical frame and can power through block attempts. She finished with five kills in the win over Shawnee Heights. Entering the match, she had recorded eight kills in seven sets played. She is an athlete I will keep tabs on and one that I hope claims her profile and shares which club team she plays with. I expect to get one more look at Manhattan in a match at Emporia on September 25.

[player_tooltip player_id='885599' first='Kinley' last='Weber'], 5'10”, OH, Silver Lake ‘28

Silver Lake is loaded with talent. The problem in scouting them is that they all seem to be about the same height. Weber was a sub on the front row and has a long reach. I did keep stats on her in the Eagles' loss to Shawnee Heights. She will be a big piece of the rotation puzzle in Silver Lake moving forward.
