Meet the Nominees
In a single match, Shayla delivered an outstanding performance, recording 19 kills on 34 attempts with an impressive .529 hitting percentage. She also contributed 2 aces while maintaining a perfect 100% serving percentage and added a block to round out her all-around impact on the game.

In the past week, Grace has played a significant role on this young varsity team. In her last match, she tallied over 10 kills and has maintained an impressive average of 4.3 digs per set. Recently featured in the Prep Dig article “Setters and Liberos New to the 2028 Rankings,” where she made her debut at No. 104 in the state of Virginia for the Class of 2028. This was an evaluation based on video analysis that highlighted her work ethic and motivation to improve. With two back-row players graduating, Grace now has a compelling opportunity to secure the libero position moving forward.

It was a hard-fought battle against Worthington Kilbourne on Thursday, 9/4, with Big Walnut securing a 30-28 win in the fourth set. Shelby Damron (Class of 2028) delivered a standout performance, posting personal bests with 19 kills, 4.8 kills per set, 12 digs, and a perfect 100% serving percentage on 12 attempts. A highly coachable athlete with a strong work ethic, Shelby continues to impress as a rising talent.

Senior OH Morgan Cross continues to lead Westmoore High School with a team-high 116 kills and 135 digs this season. In a recent match against Piedmont, she delivered 13 kills, 26 digs, 2 blocks, 2 assists, and a 100% serving percentage with 1 ace and a 2.07 serve rating. More than just stats, Morgan is a vocal leader on the court and a positive role model known for her dedication, sportsmanship, and work ethic.

Adelaide had a standout week, recording 12 aces, 10 kills, 30 assists, 14 digs, and 2 blocks over two matches. She's now ranked 7th overall in Class 2A for aces and holds the No. 1 spot among all sophomores in 2A, according to MaxPreps. As a sophomore leader and setter, Adelaide continues to be a key contributor, playing all six rotations. Last season, she broke the school record for aces in a single season; now on track to outperform those numbers this year.
Highlights
During a weekend tournament at the Ashland Invitational, Brooke Barntsen delivered an exceptional all-around performance over four back-to-back matches, leading her team to a 3-1 record with no rest between games. Playing as a Setter/Outside Hitter, she averaged a triple-double with 11 kills, 10 assists, and 10 digs per match in best-of-three formats. Brooke also contributed an average of 2 blocks and 1 ace per game, while passing an impressive 2.39 in serve receive. This was one of the most well-rounded and impactful performances you'll see, as she made a difference in every aspect of the game.

In the first full week of her senior season, North Husky OH Libby Ryan put up impressive numbers over 16 sets. She totaled 69 kills with a .362 hitting percentage, a .49 kill efficiency, 5 blocks, and averaged 4.3 kills per set. These standout performances came in matches against Tecumseh, Heritage Hills, and Jennings County, helping lead the Huskies to a 7-0 record and a championship win at the Scottsburg Invitational.

Ki earned a well-deserved spot on the All-Tournament Team, standing out as a six-rotation outside hitter and team leader in kills, digs, and aces. She plays with confidence, making smart, aggressive swings and showing sharp defensive instincts with excellent court coverage. Her calm, focused presence and strong communication elevate her team, and as a two-time state champion, she knows how to lead and get the job done.
