Lafayette pushed past LCA to get the win in the 43rd District Tournament Monday at Dunbar High School going 3/1. A super competitive tight match saw players step up to the challenge and display their talents. These athletes all played well, here's who we thought stepped up best.    Elise is a pillar on her team, she has broad shoulders and carries the load well! A super athletic setter that can take bad balls and turn them into beautiful sets is apparent in Elise. She sees the court extremely well and is fantastic at making excellent plays with the play at hand. She utilizes all her front row players and gives them the best opportunity to score. Elise has a strong set to anywhere on the court and will make something happen from any ball, very few get past her and she will come up with some big moves that seem simple for her. She could give lessons on how to play a ball of the net! She can produce a beautiful jump set and backset with high accuracy from anywhere comfortably. She gets up for the block with excellent timing and can serve up a storm. Gamechanger!     Audrey is a clutch player, she performs at the top of her game consistently and brings fire to her team. Audrey has a weapon in her swing that is downright lethal. Her explosive attack and vertical gets her on top of that ball with excellent contact, a fast release, and superb ball control. She can hit in the seams, down the line, or flat our just power through a block, and does it often. She gets up for the block and can easily fake the opposition with a well placed tip. She has a hard fast serve, can dig up balls that seem lost and plays with great energy and enthusiasm. She is a player you want on your team, not to play against. She will go all the way no doubt.     Rachel is a dynamic player, we've seen her in multiple positions all played with confidence and a calmness that we loved. Rachel is a smart, crafty player that has a tool box full of skills and dimension. She has a great set that she can power up directly underneath the ball with good hands squarely above shoulders and set to perfectly to the pin or middle. But she can also take some big swings that are craftly placed showing good ball control, with a beautiful cross court kill. She sets herself up nicely with ample room to bring a nice attack and can deliver above or around the block. Rachel can serve up aces with an excellent serve and will dig in that back row with the best of them. We loved her play and versatility, absolutely loved her play!     Ava is going up the ladder, we are seeing consistent good play with confidence and polished skills. Ava brings good size to the front line with a solid block, good technique and timing with a nice swing block solo or in tandem and the ability to move easily up and down the net to make those blocks. Ava has got a nice swing that has strengthened, she has put more confidence behind it with a stronger approach and a faster release, making some beautiful kills on court. She reads the court well and is an enthusiastic player looking for the ball and making herself available for the plays. She serves confidently and is becoming a player who name you will hear often. Good things to come from this athlete!     Lexi is becoming a force to recon with on the court. She has put in the work and it's showing producing super kills from the pin with beautiful technique and power. She has excellent placement in addition with good court awareness to get those kills and they are adding up! Lexi will swing heartily and doesn't need the perfect set to do so, hitting equally impressive tight to the net as well. Lexi can put up some big blocks with impressive reach and technique closing it off on the front row. She has great timing and easily puts herself into position to deny opponents with great play awareness. She provides good cover for her teammates and it supportive on the court to hear team. Lexi has developed into a top player and is well on her way to higher play.     [player_tooltip player_id='711994' first='Carli' last='Dotson'] is carving her way to the top! She is an enthusiastic player with plenty of skillset. Carli has a great presence at the net with good court IQ to make good plays. She sets herself up for the ball and connects when given the opportunity. She has a good attack with a healthy swing and text book mechanics, revealing good contact and placement making strong sound kills. She provides good cover for her teammates on the front line and is moving to following the play well waiting for her chance to put it put there. She can serve up net skimming aces and digs up balls with grit. She is one to keep tabs on as she moves up the ladder. No doubt it will happen for her!
