Perhaps you've seen us talk about “year-round teammates” before.

In the past several years, we've seen an increasingly prevalent phenomenon regarding the crossover between high school and club volleyball. More and more, we're seeing athletes compete for the same high schools and club teams, leading to the rise of wire-to-wire teammates between the spring and fall. Year-round cohesion is at an all-time high, and that can certainly pay dividends when a trophy is on the line.

So, our latest series is bringing the two prep volleyball spheres into one. Which club teammates are in the hunt for high school gold this fall? Bring on the dynamic duos.

[player_tooltip player_id='458117' first='Malorie' last='Boesiger'] and [player_tooltip player_id='739707' first='Loryn' last='Piening'] - Norris, [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE']

This combo somehow keeps raising the standard.

We got a good look at the Boesiger-Piening connection during this year's club season, when the two competed for a new, revamped [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Synergy roster. Boesiger dished out [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE']'s familiar brand of up-tempo offense, while Piening embraced her role as a pin-to-pin middle blocker who could terminate from anywhere.

The tandem's fall numbers with Norris speak for themselves. Boesiger leads all Nebraska setters with an astonishing 12 assists per set--nearly 1,000 total helpers heading into the season's final weeks. Piening has contributed to that lofty average by putting down 2.2 kills per set on a 0.392 clip.

Norris remains the frontrunner in Class B and can thank some [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] influence for its dominance.

[player_tooltip player_id='458183' first='Kherington' last='Snider'] and [player_tooltip player_id='458184' first='Myla' last='Deats'] - Omaha Westside, Nebraska Elite

Bring on a couple of 2027 gems.

Nebraska Elite and Omaha Westside have a lot of personnel crossover, particularly among Elite's top 16s group. That's where we watched Snider and Deats thrive as a lethal setter-middle tandem during the club season. Deats is also dynamic enough to flex to opposite and grant some additional firepower to the pins.

The same storyline has played out for Westside, which sits fifth in the latest Class A wildcard standings. Snider leads the Warriors in assists while adapting to whichever system the team deploys in any given match. Deats, meanwhile, paces Westside with a 0.318 hitting clip and has maintained her multi-faceted role at the net.

Kenzie Griesen and [player_tooltip player_id='737378' first='Jaelyn' last='Mejstrik'] - Columbus Lakeview, Lightning

Lightning strikes twice!

One of our favorite storylines of the 2025 club season was the regional emergence of Lightning 17-1, a club team exclusively comprised of Columbus Lakeview standouts. This group put up impressive performances at the Midwest Power League and earned valuable reps ahead of this year's high school season.

Of course, we could have chosen any duo from the Lightning roster. We're rolling with Griesen and Mejstrik, a libero-middle combo with more time at Lakeview beyond this senior. Griesen is Lakeview's junior anchor at libero and has four digs per set at the position. Her exceptional ball control leads to attacking opportunities for Mejstrik, a 2028 middle blocker with incredible athleticism and a sky-high ceiling. Mejstrik leads the Vikings in blocks by a wide margin and keeps building on her tremendous freshman debut on the prep stage.

Lakeview is sixth in the Class B standings with a 23-4 record. Team bonds will be a strength heading into district play.

[player_tooltip player_id='572563' first='Hailey' last='Hoff'] and [player_tooltip player_id='570568' first='Kaitlyn' last='Staehr'] - Aurora, South Central NE

This decorated small-town duo has catalyzed an Aurora renaissance.

Yes, we're suddenly highlighting Aurora as a tournament contender. The Huskies have more than doubled last year's win total and have clawed to the top dozen in an ultra-competitive Class B wildcard race. It's a remarkable turnaround, and the Hoff-Staehr connection has had a lot to do with it.

The big-time results aren't coming out of nowhere, though. We watched Hoff and Staehr shine with South Central NE 15 Black, and their best moments came during the grand finale. These two athletes were both all-GJNC honorees after 15 Black made its podium ascent in Dallas.

It's a perfect launching point for a prep explosion. Staehr boasts 4.5 kills per set this fall while hitting nearly 0.300. She has an ironclad bond with Hoff, who has churned out nine assists per set from the setter spot.

[player_tooltip player_id='809504' first='Amelia' last='Boone'] and [player_tooltip player_id='524200' first='Marin' last='Brummund'] - Omaha Skutt Catholic, [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last='']

Here's one for the veterans.

We've seen an increasing trend of [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] pulling in athletes from Omaha Skutt Catholic. Surely any club would be eager to draw players competing for a team that racked up nearly a decade of consecutive state titles.

Boone and Brummund were a wicked combo for [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 17 Elite, but their senior influence with the SkyHawks is just as impressive. Skutt Catholic has a ton of depth at the middle blocker position, and Boone has contributed to the collective effort with a 0.273 attacking percentage in the frontcourt. It also helps to have a stellar libero delivering passes for these middles to capitalize on. Brummund fills that niche for the SkyHawks while also leading the charge with 4.1 digs per set.
