Halfway through our featured athletes portion of the class of 2028 coming to our Exposure Tour, we're spending today's column talking about some of the better “bigs” that will be with us. For me, “bigs” are defined as tall, strong and multipositional, and can be put in any situation offensively and defensively. Here are six that we're super excited to have just eight days from now.

I'm starting this article with a for sure D1 talent that can bounce balls from the M2 position, regardless of the set. Overshadowed by many high-end Fort Wayne schools, this Snider product is broad-shouldered, strong, smart, and can be springy in any zero-tempo offensive set. She's fiery too—-lots of energy, talent and athleticism with this kid, and it's hard NOT to cheer for her.

Emily's more of a right side than a middle, but for a kid that can do both, you can do a lot worse in this class. Long, lean and with a defense-first mentality, a lot of the swing blocking and eye-sequencing that is avoided by some trainers comes inherently with Emily. I'd like to see a little more rise from Miss Miller when attacking, but for now, she has many traits that will get her a bunch of early looks this club season.

No, I didn't just add her because her name is AWESOME. I added her here because, as a big, she's the top blocker for a Twin Lakes program that's known more for their basketball prowess. Crickette does both, I think, so here's to hoping that her volleyball side (ahem, hint-hint) takes over. At any rate, I'm looking forward to how she stacks up against other bigs, as there seems to be a dearth of them in this class.

Long, lean and smooth for days, Karleigh got stronger as the fall season went on. On size alone, she should get a ton of attention this spring, as her arms make her look taller than her 6'2” frame would otherwise indicate. I like her attack height, her use of length on defense, and her overall smoothness when she plays. She's already comfortable as an M2, so here's to hoping she's going to develop even further with TI during club season.

I'm cheating a bit here, since I've seen her attack FAR more on the pin than in the middle, but hear me out. For a kid that can jump out of the gym, hammer away at unsuspecting defenses and do something positive with out-of-system plays, you're looking at a kid who can play any of the front row positions, and do so at a high level. That's more than good enough for me, and we're about to find out how that translates to some of the best in the area on November 29.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of my favorite repeat attendees to our showcases. Owner of TWO state championship medals in 4A, Paityn is a heavy-hitting and smart middle who uses brute force to beat (more like defeat and subdue) opposing blocks regularly. I like her motor, her upper body strength, and her athletic acuity while playing a position most take for granted. Her work ethic, combined with that high volleyball IQ, should carry her far in her recruiting journey.
