2028 Top Ten: Minor Movement Among the Top

There was little movement in the top ten of our most recent 2028 rankings. As these athletes concluded their sophomore seasons in prep ball, the needle didn't move enough to make any changes in the top five. Our top prospect remains 6'4" Union star [player_tooltip player_id='623081' first='Rilynn' last='Wingenbach']. The Class 4 all-state selectee totaled over 250 kills and 75 blocks from the middle this fall. At 6'3", [player_tooltip player_id='828400' first='Gillian' last='Pfeiffer'] follows Wingenbach. Both athletes can play in the middle and on the pin. Pfeiffer had 223 kills while blocking 52 attacks. [player_tooltip player_id='556998' first='Paisley' last='Hudson'] had a phenomenal season in year 2, helping lead Oak Grove to an undefeated regular season, finishing third in Class 3. In her all-state season, she averaged over 5 kills per set and eclipsed the 500 kill mark. Another all-state honoree, [player_tooltip player_id='543378' first='Olivia' last='Maciel'], still holds down the fourth position. The powerful opposite had 385 kills for Blue Springs. Rounding out the top five, [player_tooltip player_id='729470' first='Sarah' last='Albers'] stays steady after a sophomore season with 320 kills to bring her high school total to 651.   The one big jump we see in the top ten comes from Pembroke Hill's [player_tooltip player_id='524854' first='Elizabeth' last='Weaver']. In our previous ranking, she was at ten, but after a strong high school and seeing her live numerous times, this jump is warranted. The 6'3" opposite showed she can score all over the court and did so with a lot of success, totaling 413 kills, and upped her dig numbers. With her move up, everyone else slides down a spot. [player_tooltip player_id='758466' first='Rylie' last='Bakker'] is another lengthy player in the middle and had over 100 blocks this fall. Our current top setter in the class, [player_tooltip player_id='545003' first='Eden' last='Wilson'], averaged 10 assists per set for Holt. At 6'0", she is a dynamic setter who is also offensive-minded. Following Wilson is Park Hill's [player_tooltip player_id='666872' first='Payton' last='Osegueda']. A powerful pin with a lively arm, Osegueda upped her kill numbers in year two and will play up a year this year for Club North. One of our favorite "undersized" pins, Battle's [player_tooltip player_id='694786' first='Ada' last='Grzella-Skibiski'], is the tenth-ranked player to date. She saw her kill numbers and, more importantly, hitting percentage numbers take big strides in her sophomore campaign. She will travel to Kansas City this winter and spring to play her club ball with PVA.
