The club volleyball season is officially underway, and last weekend kicked off what will be an exciting seven months of intense, high-level tournaments being held all over the state of Texas.

The opening weekend had some really good ones to follow, and we, at Prep Dig Texas, started our coverage at the Skyline Classic Season Opener, held at the recently renovated facilities of the popular [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] club in Houston.

DiMatteo was one of the standouts in the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 15 Royal team that finished at the top of the standings with three wins and no sets lost. A libero for her high school team College Park, she mastered the game in the back row and had a central role in serve-receive, keeping their team in system. Despite not being very tall, she also held her own at the net, making an explosive approach and showing great vision to score points. DiMatteo showed she had the firepower to put the ball down and also stood out with her shot selection, remaining efficient in every situation and making very few errors.

Kemper was with the TW Skyline 15 Royal side that got two wins and a loss, ranking second in the event. The team's main scoring option, she used her solid physical tools to get the job done, getting off the floor well and swinging with power and precision from both the left and the right. Kemper also stood out as an elite blocker, taking up a lot of space from opposing hitters at the pin and being aggressive with how she placed her arms across the net to shut them down. The outside hitter did well with her passing and had some nice serving runs, as well.

Brooks represented the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 15 Black side that ended up in third place, with two wins and a loss. Long and athletic, she was the team's main scorer and showed great ability to score points from the left and the right. Brooks was very impressive with her line swing at the pin, as she indicated she would hit angle with her body placement, only to let the ball make it past the block and hammer it down the line. Brooks also did well with her passing, showing quality and confidence to deliver the ball to her setter.

Parsons was also with [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 15 Black and helped the team finish third with two wins and one loss. A very technical and consistent player, she had an important tactical role with the team, providing them a great deal of stability with her solid and well-rounded game. Parsons was a key piece for them in serve-receive and responded well, producing at a high level in that area of the game. The pin hitter used her intelligence and court vision to score points, standing out with tips and roll shots that went down inside the attack zone, making it very hard for defenders to get to them.
