The opening weekend had some really good ones to follow, and we, at Prep Dig Texas, started our coverage at the Skyline Classic Season Opener, held at the recently renovated facilities of the popular [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] club in Houston.

Teams from all over the Houston area were represented in the event, and we focused our coverage on the 15 Open Division, which featured eight sides, coming from six different clubs in the area.

It was a great start for what's going to be another amazing season in Texas, and we're happy to feature the players who were in excellent form on Saturday. The right sides are up next:

Wolford was with the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 15 Royal team that dominated the division with three wins and no sets lost. She split her time with the team between setting and hitting duties and showed a solid all-around game. A six-footer, Wolford showed a strong and well-developed offensive game, making contact with the ball at a high point and finding nice angles to her swings from both the right and the left - she was also pretty resourceful to put the ball down in tight sets. When operating as a setter, she was very precise with her locations and did well with her distribution, getting her middles involved as much as possible.

Prihoda played for the TW Skyline 15 Royal side that ranked second with two wins and one loss. She was more impactful on the defensive side of the game for them, offering her team a strong blocking presence at the net. Prihoda was very disciplined with her positioning, read plays well and played aggressively above the net to get in the way of opposing pin hitters. She wasn't among the team's main scoring options, but did get set in key moments of sets and managed to put the ball down by using her length to make contact with the ball at a high point and find gaps in the opposing block.

Alexander represented the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 15 Black team that got a third-place finish in the tournament with two wins and a loss. Although a bit undersized, she played big at the net, getting off the floor very well and putting a lot of heat on the ball in her swings. Alexander was very explosive with her approach and overpowered opposing blockers on some occasions. She was also very consistent offensively, making few errors.

Barnes played for the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 15 White side that got fourth in the event, registering a win and two losses. Also capable of playing in the middle, she manned the right for them with her solid and productive game. A very physical player, Barnes got off the floor well and battled opponents at the net on both sides of the ball. She was able to put a lot of power into her swings every time she went up, and also showed great vision and technical resources, hitting into different directions to go around blockers and put the ball down.
