There are categories that we like to cover when releasing new and (somewhat) improved rankings, and today's is my favorite. Here are five stock risers that did everything they could to be noticed—-and turned that effort into a major rise in their recruitment stock.

Far and away the most complete athlete in the class of ‘29, Evelyn is in the NDTP as a setter and is our top recruit for the class of ‘29. Her athleticism alone stands apart from the rest of the setters in this class, let alone the class itself. She's also on the high end when it comes to set placement, footwork, volleyball IQ and deceptive hands. Maturity oozes from Miss Shirk, and acts as a second coach on the floor when she's in charge. I'm looking forward to seeing her play with her 1st Alliance club this spring, as there are a couple of kids from Indiana that have turned heads recently to give me notice.

Playing up a year at Circle with their 16-1, Gabby is a full-time libero that can change a game with her solid serve receive, above-average read-and-react defense and overall knowledge of the game as a DS. In our showcases, she's a calming presence with kids that don't know her, as she can take pressure off of her fellow passers by receiving half the court. With her club team, she'll keep her offense in-system, and has been training at an open level of play for some time now, making her one of the better prepared defenders in this class.

I'm not so sure that there's a BETTER way to raise your stock as what Kendall did this past fall. Yorktown graduated the heart and soul of their program to Indiana University (Charlotte Vinson), which left a pretty sizeable void. No one, not even this author, expected Yorktown to be back at the same level, let alone 4A's final four, which was led offensively by Kendall. In short: no other single player has had as much of an impact on their squad as Kendall had, and EVERYONE knew she was the only one getting the ball in the offense. She's an explosive and dynamic attacker who makes up for her size with smarts and relentlessness, and should be a treat to watch this coming spring as she develops even further.

In short, Huntington North is not exactly known for their volleyball success. Amy has single-handedly changed that, and for good reason. She's an M2 with broad shoulders, a high-and-hard attack and solid defensive habits. I'd like to see more of her development as she gets older—-and on cue, she's made a squad at PHP, adding to her meteoric rise she created this past fall. Size is something we don't have much of in Indiana, let alone in the middle position, so it's nice to see Amy own it and carry the flag for big and strong middles here in the Hoosier State.

Already showcasing her talents at our Exposure Tour a month ago, Rylie is a solid, consistent and quick setter that has “future D1 player” written all over her. Maturity seeps out of every pore, and does things on a volleyball court you wouldn't expect from a kid this young. With high, deceptive hands, a knack for finding the right hitter in the right situation and footwork that looks innate, Rylie is the future of setting in southern Indiana, and will be part of Providence's continued success in the coming years.
