Speaking of carrying her high school’s offensive load, Kendall is a compact attacker with all of the shots in the book as well as the All-State accolades to prove that fact. With varied shot selection, high-end court vision and a fearless approach to the game, her Munciana squad is THAT much better with her on it, just like Yorktown was this past fall in their run to the state semifinal.

Easily one of the top recruits in this class, Kendall’s ability to take over a match was on full display this past fall, carrying the Tigers all the way to the state semifinal. Her First Team All-State honors were well-earned, and she’s sprinkling in a six-rotation component that will make her even tougher to beat in the future. Compact and explosive, Kendall should be one of the primary attackers for any of her future high school or club rosters before she graduates in the summer of ‘29.

Admittedly, I wrote off Yorktown after their major graduations a year ago. After watching a full season’s worth of 4A 1st team All-State Kendall at work, it’s clear why she received the most mentions by us of any single athlete in any class in Indiana. Terminal, relentless and smart, Miss Rowray is a spitfire of an outside that can carry a program at will, just like she carried the Tigers to a state semifinal appearance in her freshman campaign.

I’m not so sure that there’s a BETTER way to raise your stock as what Kendall did this past fall. Yorktown graduated the heart and soul of their program to Indiana University (Charlotte Vinson), which left a pretty sizeable void. No one, not even this author, expected Yorktown to be back at the same level, let alone 4A’s final four, which was led offensively by Kendall. In short: no other single player has had as much of an impact on their squad as Kendall had, and EVERYONE knew she was the only one getting the ball in the offense. She’s an explosive and dynamic attacker who makes up for her size with smarts and relentlessness, and should be a treat to watch this coming spring as she develops even further.

As the main attack point for the Tiger offense this fall, Kendall was responsible for the majority of Yorktown’s continued success on the court. When among the older, stronger kids from around the state, things didn’t change—-she even got to receive serve a bit in drills and some game play, and held her own. If she’s ADDING to what’s already a well-rounded volleyball skill set, I can’t imagine how good she can be.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Kendall, who earned Second Team All-State this past fall. The entire focal point of the offense for the Tigers, Kendall is a play fast, swing hard, and be smart type of volleyball player that reminds me of Chloe Chicoine, minus the ball control. Without Kendall, I’m not entirely sure that Yorktown finishes anywhere remotely close to the top five in 4A this fall, and rarely did teams have a defensive answer for Miss Rowray. She’s a fun one to watch, and will be highly recruited when her time comes.

An absolute banger of an outside, Kendall’s explosion onto the volleyball scene was realized this entire fall. To know that everyone in the gym knows who’s getting the ball, and she’s STILL able to rack up 5 kills per set, even in the latter part of the postseason, speaks volumes to Kendall’s ability and potential collegiate aspirations. She dominated at last summer’s Freshman Showcase, and should look to do some more damage on November 29.

Kendall’s performance all season has been an eye-opening adventure. In two five-set matches yesterday, here are her stats: 58 kills, 31 digs, 4 blocks and 4 aces. That’s a ton of high-end attacking and defending for anyone, let alone a freshman, and nearly her entire Tiger squad will return for years to come to show everyone what volleyball blue-bloods look like in Indiana.

With Indiana Miss Volleyball Charlotte Vinson (now at IU) graduated, it was assumed that Yorktown would take a step back offensively, plus they lack the size that a typical 4A school should have.
Insert Kendall. Rowray does everything as a six-ro outside, and is relentless. Excellent passer, smart, physical, just plays different.
Clearly the Tigers’ best player – Kendall’s breakout began at our Freshman Showcase in July and has continued since.

Replacing Indiana’s Miss Volleyball isn’t this easy, is it? Kendall showed immediately upon arrival this fall that she was ready for the assignment, and it all culminated with a 28 kill, 13 dig performance against Center Grove in a five-set thriller. A ball of fire in a compact, terminating outside, Miss Rowray has surprised even this author with her take-charge mentality and inevitable point-scoring ability.
