Our positional breakdown continues with a look at some setters from around the state that have already made recruiters take a second look at their skills. Here are five setters from five different clubs from the class of 2029 that each have something unique about them that screams “next level”.

Already familiar with running a fast and accurate offense, Honor will be helming the offense for Circle's top 15s squad this spring. With high hands (look at the profile pic!), an athletic build and quick feet, Miss Durham is already ahead of most of the crowded setter group in this class. I'm looking forward to seeing her play this coming weekend at the Early Bird Shootout, as that is my first stop this club season.

Athletic and smart, Lillian will run the offense for Rev's top 15s squad this coming spring. Being part of the HSE clan, she's already accustomed to high-end volleyball and will receive more of the same training at Rev. Currently, her footwork is solid, her set location is repeatable, and accuracy comes easy to her. I'll get a chance to see her work at Hoosier Regionals, as that tournament should pit her against most of the top programs in her age group in the state.

Of the five setters listed here, none ran the offense for a top-five 4A program like Landree. Her ability to continue Yorktown's success despite graduation and injury only furthers her appeal to recruiters. Yes, she's small. But that didn't seem to stop the undersized Tigers from making it to the state semifinal this past fall, and Landree was the director of the offense the whole way. She can easily fit in as a three-rotation setter for anyone running a 6-2 or be a 5-1 setter for a smaller school looking for accuracy, solid defense and location accuracy.

Already seeing some varsity playing time with one of the best programs in the state, Alaina is the tallest setter listed here, with length for days. Her ability to take long strides to get to wherever the ball is passed sets her apart from some of the shorter setters on this list. Her long arms allow her to take the ball high, be deceptive, and locate the ball perfectly for her hitters, regardless of tempo or location. I'm hoping to catch her play this season, as this will be the first time I can see her with her own age level in open competition.

Vocal, active and athletic, Emerie would be a nice addition for anyone looking for a second coach on the floor in the form of a setter. Constantly active and encouraging her hitters, Miss Tester leads vocally AND by example—-traits not often seen in setters here in Indiana. Her ability to do everything—-defend, cover, run an offense, serve tough, turn out-of-system into in-system—-is all there, and should be on full display no matter where and whom she plays this spring. Although I'm not sure what tournaments she's playing this club season (neither her club schedule nor the roster has been released by Academy), I will make time to watch a kid that crushed it at our showcase this past fall.
