[program_tooltip program_id='934901' first='Reps' last='Volleyball Club'] Director Kelly Goodwin founded the club located in Lexington with the idea of giving multi-sport athletes the opportunity to play in the spring. The club's first official season came in 2024.

The club currently has seven teams with the two 15s teams being the oldest two. Players generally go elsewhere after outgrowing that age. Goodwin said she has no desire to grow it so she can be hands on for each team and the practices, thus giving her the opportunity to get to know the players and families.

Goodwin said outside of the 15 Blue team, the other teams have rosters with multiple players on them. Goodwin added rosters are more set this year mainly because most every player returned. However, players are allowed to play in two tournaments, all 10 or somewhere in between. Goodwin also added the families only pay for the practices the players attend as well, thus it helps with schedules and finances.

Goodwin had been an assistant at Henry Clay the past three seasons. However, she just accepted the Paris head coaching job. The two 15s teams have some of the area's bright young players.

Bryan Station eighth grade middle/right side hitter Adair Kaiser saw action 10 games and will play middle/right side hitter for this team. Two West Jessamine players in freshman Posey Bower at setter played in seven games with eighth grade middle hitter [player_tooltip player_id='938777' first='Harper' last='Goins'] seeing action in 10 games.

Lafayette's [player_tooltip player_id='933071' first='Maya' last='Ashurst'] will play defensive specialist and Lafayette teammate Adelia Brown will play middle or right side hitter. Henry Clay's Sophia Smith will set with Lexington Catholic's Katelyn Husz playing outside/right side hitter.

Goodwin is the team's head coach. The team took third out of 12 games in the 15 Girls Division of the MAVA Kick-Off Classic then 13th out of 44 teams in the 15-16s Division of the Lexington Open. The team plays in the Commonwealth Grand Prix Feb. 7 and 8 at the Central Bank Center in Lexington.

Scott County's Izzy Reeves gives the team a middle presence with the Lexington School eighth grader Malia Backers hitting from the outside, middle and right side. Four players hit from outside/right side in Bryan Station's Evy Haggard, Kailey Torres along with Henry Clay's Zyania Hernandez and Libby Kotter.

Newman (pictured) is hoping to solidify her defensive skills during the club season in hopes of helping the Defenders put up a solid defense in the fall. Newman has good form on her passing showing the ability to dig up solid hitters. Newman sends across nice serves then quickly moves forward to handle tipped balls. Newman does a nice job executing overhead and bump passes reacting quickly on balls. Newman quickly runs down setovers. Newman is an aggressive server and is not afraid to extend an arm to keep plays alive. Newman had 120 digs for Bryan Station in the fall.

Millar is one of the taller players in the state and she is turning into a solid middle using that to her advantage. Millar hits balls over, around and even off blockers using a solid swing from the middle and pins. Millar smacks overpassed balls to the ground. She has a wicked cross to the left line. Tweaks here and there will make her a force in the 11th Region these next three seasons. Millar can also make nice first touches. Millar had 115 kills, 58 assisted and five solo blocks in the fall, helping Henry Clay go 24-12 on the season.

Ashurst hopes to step into a defensive role for Lafayette this fall. She makes crisp first touches helping teams set up the offensive attack. A nice club season will go a long way for Ashurst.

Goins showed great signs as an eighth grader in the fall for West Jessamine. She can record solo and assisted blocks then takes nice swings i the middle and outside. Goins can smack ones to the sides of blockers and off blocks. Goins will only continue to grow with her work ethic.
