Here's one for the visitors.

I've briefly alluded to the fact that I'll be branching out into Kansas during the 2026 club season. I'm thrilled for this step in my journey to cover as many athletes as possible, and I hope to keep branching out in the coming months and years. My commitment to Nebraska will never waver, but we're layering in more Midwest action this year. Get ready.

Last weekend's Premier Nebraska MLK Invite offered the perfect opportunity to kick off my Kansas "invasion." [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] brought a couple of its top squads to the new Gretna facility to dial in its early-season form. Several athletes stood out, so we might as well highlight a few of them.

Hello, Sunflower State.

Lee is the kind of outside hitter who can terminate even when she doesn't get a full approach. Her step-close and off-the-floor explosiveness make her a perfect out-of-system option for [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] 16-1's offense. Better yet, Lee's squad challenged itself against several elite 17s squads during last weekend's visit. This allowed Lee to showcase her exceptional physicality and athleticism, even while sparring against older opponents. It's no wonder that this St. James Academy sophomore is currently our top-ranked prospect in Kansas' Class of 2028.

Harris brings everything you'd want from a setter leading a 5-1 offense. She has quick feet out of the back row, allowing her to operate [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']']'s up-tempo transition offense. Then, Harris rotates into the front row and provides an imposing block against opposing left-side hitters. Her full repertoire reached the spotlight in Gretna, including Harris's willingness to join the attacking phase on second contacts. The Kansas City area is loading up on setter talent, but that's nothing new.

Minton's backcourt reflexes are a major difference-maker for [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] 16-1. The team stayed in long rallies behind Minton's ability to pick up tips and fill seams left by the block. Aside from her knack for commanding her team's floor defense, Minton is also a plug-and-play libero in the serve-receive pattern. She was particularly strong in the middle-back area at last weekend's event and wasn't afraid to shoulder some passing volume. [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']']'s top 16s crew is already establishing balance and strength around the dial.

Now, we venture into the 15s scene. Milo staked her claim as [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] 15-1's "big gun" outside hitter through this early-season event. She found ways to score by working over, around, or through any hands in front of her. This 2029 left-side hitter is also a six-rotation mainstay who will stay involved in the offense regardless of rotation. Milo's pipe approach has the kind of refinement you don't expect to find from a high school freshman. Shawnee Mission West has a future building block at the outside attacker spot.

Once again, we find a [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] setter with the range and versatility to excel in various lineups. McGuire is a natural leader in Zone 1 and has tremendous defensive touch to accompany her setting. Her pin-to-pin distribution was a highlight of the Premier Nebraska MLK Invite, as McGuire opened up huge lanes for her attackers to exploit. This led to several highlight-worthy swings and a wave of momentum for the visiting squad. Look for McGuire to take that skill on the road throughout 2026.

Every [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] team needs its show-stopping libero. It's a theme most people recognize, whether they're from the Heart of America Region or a Nebraska outsider, like me. Beal fills that niche for [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] 15-1 and does a lot more than absorb heat as a defender. She was also a reliable secondary setter at last weekend's and kept her pin hitters in a good rhythm. This all-around influence lifted [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']'] 15-1 to four consecutive victories to open the tournament, and the best is yet to come for Beal's group.
