President's Day is upon us, and numerous tournaments around the country are vying for the eyeballs of college recruiters everywhere. Easily, the top tournament nationwide is the Triple Crown in Kansas City, which is invite only, and for obvious reasons. It's the cream of the crop of club teams from coast to coast converging together to create the most competitive tournament anywhere. At first glance, six clubs from around Indiana have been invited to this year's edition, and we'll break down the players to watch per recruitable age group. Here are the 17s, in alphabetical order by club.

She may look sweet in her profile pic, but Miss Hanchar is a beast once the first whistle is blown. Explosive, springy and always active in all parts of the game, Caroline's ability to score points on the attack, prevent opponent's points with her defense and solid serve receive make her a nice, all-around option on the outside in the class of ‘27. Coach Travis Fuller has this squad playing in an ultra-fast offense, and Caroline has fit in quite nicely with the tempo.

A no-nonsense middle if there ever was one, Brooklyn is a physical middle that does her job well without all of the screaming and fanfare that others in this position might otherwise project. She's a workhorse—-regardless of where the ball is set or how the first contact comes out, Miss Wade is ready to hit. On defense, her uber-long arms close blocks and penetrate better than most in the barely-six-foot club. I'm surprised she's not committed anywhere yet, since pure middles are hard to come by in this class in Indiana. Nevertheless, Miss Wake is available, and is a key cog in the offensive machine that is the Tsunami.

With a strong upper body and a high volleyball IQ, Evyn scores points in a variety of ways for her Munciana Aztecs. Useful as a three-rotation pin attacker from either pin, her size and upper body strength forces opponents to account for her on each and every play she's in the game. Capable of hitting a high hands shot, sharp angle, hard line or something controlled that minimizes errors, Miss Taylor is fully capable of being that next-level pin attacker that most colleges covet.

From Libero High School, Miss Robinson is the latest in a long line of defensive specialists that are more than capable of wearing the special jersey on any roster and in any setting. I don't talk much about DS's or liberi in my articles because there are SOOOOO many of them here in Indiana. Lyndsey is a special exception to this rule of mine; fast feet, a controlled platform and constant active conversation in every point are traits she wears on her sleeve. She should be a very nice steal for any college looking for an addition to the cadre of passers on a roster.

Cut from a similar cloth as Morgan Gaerte, Elle is a long-and-lean pin attacker that touches at or above ten feet regularly. She's also developing her serve receive and floor defense, training to complete the solid recruiting package that she'll become soon. She started as a middle because of her size, but is definitely more of a pin attacker these days, and has shown exactly that regularly in our showcases over the last couple of years.

A two-time defending 4A state champ, Cala is already playing at the next level, literally—-her experience representing the U-S-of-A last year proved just that, and should be the first libero off the board in the class of ‘28. Solid in serve receive, anticipatory on defense and acting as another coach on the floor, Cala's ability to take over a match through the first contact has been proven time and again for those teams choosing to serve to her. The gap between her and the other defenders from Indiana in this class is wide; not too many in this (or any) class in Indiana play at Cala's level.

Playing for Union's 17 Black, Aylah is a solid, all-around outside that has all of the shots in the book and will be a continued thorn in the side of many schools in southern Indiana. Amassing over 200 kills in her first varsity season last fall, Aylah's ability to terminate at will is her calling card, and is looking to round out her high volleyball acuity with extended training in serve receive and floor defense.

New to me, but not to the game itself, Riley is a long and strong middle that does best with setters who understand how fast she wants to go. She's a rare middle with size here in Indiana—-most middles from Indiana either can't or won't transition with speed. On more than one occasion in recent video footage, Riley's faster than the setter can feed her the ball, which is a nice problem to have. Adept at hitting in front of or behind the setter in any rotation and at any time, she takes long strides and and explosive jump to max her attack height.
