From Libero High School, Miss Robinson is the latest in a long line of defensive specialists that are more than capable of wearing the special jersey on any roster and in any setting. I don’t talk much about DS’s or liberi in my articles because there are SOOOOO many of them here in Indiana. Lyndsey is a special exception to this rule of mine; fast feet, a controlled platform and constant active conversation in every point are traits she wears on her sleeve. She should be a very nice steal for any college looking for an addition to the cadre of passers on a roster.

When you say Munciana, you say passing. Munciana trains high-end passers regularly, and many have gone on to be high-end liberi in Power 4 schools around the country. Lyndsey is no exception, and she will NEVER blow her own horn when playing. Steady as she goes, Miss Robinson can receive serve and anticipates attacks well for her size, age and position. The volleyball IQ is through the roof, and is more than comfortable playing in a high-stakes atmosphere—-much like the expectations required of her at Yorktown and Munciana.

As the libero for one of the top 16s teams in the midwest, it’s important to note how vital Lyndsey’s passing is to their success. Not surprisingly, Miss Robinson is the top floor defender listed because of that solid Munciana ball-control training. She’s hyper accurate in serve receive, takes on the hardest of attacks from opponents with ease, and is always around the ball on off-speed shots and coverage balls. Quick and decisive, Lyndsey makes the position look simple, which it certainly is NOT.

In the match I watched, Lyndsey was donning the libero jersey and she was certainly doing it justice. I saw her innate ability to dig a hard driven ball to the middle of the court WITHOUT going to the floor, which I consider an elite skill because way too many defensive players hit the floor without needing to. She often was in serve receive with just one other passer (usually Rhamy) and again was a rock in the back row – the two of them look very comfortable together for it being this early in the club season. The last quality that I loved in Robinson was her setting skills. I saw her use her hands when she could and she put up absolute dimes for her hitters, especially the RS attackers. When Lyndsey had to use her platform, it was never erratic or spastic, but instead she always put it high and just a little inside the court so her hitters could swing away. Robinson led her Burris HS team in both total digs and dig per set as just a sophomore and I know we will see that same trend in the next couple of years to come – she is the real deal Munciana defender we have all come to know and love!
