Recently we posted our initial ranking for the class of 2030, and in an earlier article we talked about the class as a whole.... but today we are going to take some time to introduce you to the top 5 from that class.

These 5 2030's are separating themselves with a advanced skill sets and a feel for the game well beyond their years. With these 5 we have some dynamic pins who can score in and out of system, to a steady setter who control tempo, and a defensive anchor who refuse to let the ball hit the floor, this group represents the next wave of impact players for the state of AZ.

A libero at #1?? Well let me tell you that if you haven't seen Kalenna play you are missing out. Kalenna can do a lot of things at a high level on the volleyball court. First, she is a elite level athlete as her footwork and transition movement is way ahead of her peers. With her footwork being so elite her defensive range becomes exceptional, covering ground quickly and effortlessly, her quick feet allow her to make tough plays look routine.

On the defensive end she plays with advanced anticipation. She reads hitters early, recognizes tendencies, and positions herself before contact, allowing her to dig balls that most players at this stage don't even touch, which probably explains why she has to play up a year. She sees the game at a level higher over her peers and her court IQ shows that during matches. Most notably from me is how she handles out-of-system situations. She has amazing hands for a libero and can keep her team in system even when they are out of system. She can step in at any point and deliver hittable balls to hitters from all over the floor.

At this stage, she's not just the best libero in her class — she's the best player in this class and one could argue one of the best liberos regardless of class out there. If you haven't seen her play I would highly encourage you to get out to some matches this year and see her play at this high level!

Charlotte is the prototypical 6 rotational outside hitter who has a fast arm swing, good serve, and elite ball control. She is someone who can do it all from all phases of the game. Starting from the ground up we see she has an approach that is fluid and aggressive, which allows her to get extremely high in the air and contact the ball well above a block at times. She also has the speed and coordination to fun faster tempo balls when she does have a big block in front of her while being smart enough to hit high hands or use a off speed shot as well.

One of the best compliments I can give a non libero passer is that in serve receive, she is dependable and technically disciplined. She is never going to be out of position and she has a solid and smooth platform that allows good contact points whenever she touches the ball. Her defense is top shelf as well as she is tracking balls into the corners and showing the foot speed to close space quickly and get good touches on those balls to keep her team in system. At the net, she's developing into a physical blocker who presses over the net and takes away angles with strong hands and a impressive vert to go with that.

Charlotte is one of the best pins in the class of 2030, and her all around game speaks for itself. She is already technically sound and a force on the offensive and defensive end and someone who is going to be a top player in AZ for years to come.

Mia is a 6 rotational pin who is already playing well above her age and doing so in dominate fashion. One thing that stands out about Mia is she doesn't rely on just one shot; she can tool the block, roll to space, and confidently attack high hands in tight situations. Her offensive game isn't one dimensional and she can take what the defense is giving her and be counted on to score throughout a match. Overall she's dynamic in transition while being absolutely terminal in-system; showing the ability to score with power, range, and vision which you don't often see from 8th graders.

On the other side of her game she plays a very good defensive game as well. One perk to being a little taller is she covers ground with long, explosive strides and reads well from the perimeter. She also transitions quickly from defense to offense, often turning digs into immediate scoring opportunities for her teammates. At the net good luck, her timing as a blocker stands out and she presses well over the net. She seals seams effectively, and shows discipline against high-level attackers by timing her jump to meet them at the point of attack.

A versatile pin who can hit from all locations and do so at a high percentage, Mia is a future star in the making and someone who has the talent and potential to continually be at the top of her class for years to come.

The top 5 this year is insanely deep, and deciding between the 3 pin hitters in the top 5 is impossible. It is more of a 2A, 2B, and 2C when talking about all the pins. However when talking about Kora the one thing that stands out above everyone else in this class is the velocity and sheer power she brings behind her swing each and every time. She also plays big above the net, contacting the ball at a high point with natural extension and generating heavy pace off a fast, efficient arm swing. Her length allows her to attack over and around blocks, and she shows advanced ability to tool defenders' hands when faced with a well-formed double block... in simple terms.. she is a highly efficient offensive weapon.

Now there is more to her game over just her offense. She is a 6 rotational OH who is playing some exceptional serve receive and defense as well. She's fluid laterally in serve receive and shows body control in transition, rarely looking rushed. Kora handles serve receive responsibilities with composure, delivering a stable platform and consistently keeping her team in system. That balance of size and ball control makes her especially valuable at the next level and as she gets older.

With her combination of size, six-rotation skill set, and elite overall ability, Kora projects as a future high-impact outside hitter and a cornerstone prospect in the 2030 class.

Sierra stands out in a number of ways as a setter. First thing that shows up when watching her play is how many sets she can run for someone so young. She is already running a fast tempo offense at Sky and is capable of running pretty much any set from all over the floor. Her technique is also elite as defenses can't get any reads off her to get the block where it needs to be. She does a great job never taking the easy set and is always making the right choice each time. She has the strength and capability of running a perfect set from across the floor

She also is a plus defender both with her back row and front row defense. First she isn't afraid to dig hard-driven balls, and will take those hard line shots from other teams OH with ease, and still she transitions quickly to run the offense. As a blocker, she shows disciplined hand positioning and timing, understanding how to take away line or funnel balls to her defenders depending on the system she is in. She has a physical presence to her at the net and her frame will allow her to only get better as she gets older.

As Sierra continues to develop physically and add strength, she projects as a high-level setter who can anchor any team or club in Arizona. In a talented 2030 class, she is the standard at the setter position though and a girl to get out and watch this season.
