Madness in Miltown wrapped up today in competitive fashion with teams battling it out to hold the championship banner at the end of the tournament. The competition was fierce and teams from three different states won each of the three divisions hosted the Sting Center.

17/18 Open - Madtown 18-1 National (Wisconsin)

17/18 Club - HVVC 18 Blue (Michigan)

16 Club - SMV 15-1 (Minnesota)

Here is a quick run down of each team and their championship run.

Madtown 18-1 National

This team was dominant all weekend going a clean 10-0 in sets. This team boasts numerous All State honorees and college commits, but beyond their raw talent, they have great chemistry on the court. No matter what lineup they were in, this team was explosive and efficient. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='261358' first='Masina' last='Reuter'] was a huge energizer on the court and was dishing out tempo sets across the net. [player_tooltip player_id='504459' first='Alaina' last='Kraemer'] did an incredible job on the right side and set as well. Her power and precision was one of the best at the tournament. [player_tooltip player_id='504461' first='Penny' last='Schell'], [player_tooltip player_id='388467' first='Mallory' last='Hartwig'], and [player_tooltip player_id='345274' first='Lauren' last='Sprague'] each showed the immense value they bring to the court. Libero [player_tooltip player_id='809419' first='Morgan' last='Bentel'] took a turn setting in the very first match and [player_tooltip player_id='389410' first='Alyssa' last='Konrad'] played at libero. Alyssa played well defensively and in serve receive all weekend. This championship was a true team effort and they were firing on all cylinders. Madtown will be headed to USAV Nationals in the 18 National division in a few short weeks.

HVVC 18 Blue

This team was so much fun to watch. They were one of the first teams I saw play on day 1 and the last team I saw on day 2. What made this team stand out was how dynamic they were. Their pins could have an impact from either side of the net and it made a huge difference in their ability to earn points. Aubree Higgins was a high-impact pin who had smart shots and a lethal swing running an play out of the middle. Fellow pin Camryn Murray utilized her high vertical and length to earn points. Aubrey Greuling and Arliene Armstrong were also impact pins. Laila Frye was in the libero jersey all weekend and did an awesome job. She was a leader on the team both mentally and through her physical game. Out of the middle, Lana Pacholke put in work to get from pin to pin on her blocks and had some key touches and stuffs. Setters Stepanka Bicistova and Alexa Cummer kept the offense moving efficiently.

SMV 15-1

This team ran like a well-oiled machine today. They showed so much grit and relentless effort the entire weekend. This team did not quit and it ended up winning them the championship. They ran two liberos, a defensive and serve receive libero which worked very well for their rotation. The ‘bros, [player_tooltip player_id='523206' first='Rory' last='Ginder'] and [player_tooltip player_id='886630' first='Emma' last='Greene'] got the job done in the back row. [player_tooltip player_id='781428' first='Mali' last='Quam'] was an unstoppable force and only seemed to heat up as the day went on. She was also a key defender for them. [player_tooltip player_id='523205' first='Anndi' last='Frie'] and Paige Lehman were offensive weapons who manufactured points all weekend. I was so impressed with the level of play this team showed. Their court awareness and ability to cover the court helped them beat some high-level teams throughout the weekend.
