The new number in the Class of 2027 is Lauren Sprague Lauren Sprague 5'9" | OH/DS/L Waunakee | 2027 State WI .  Sprague has had quite a year where she has been playing up on the Madtown 181 National squad and was an unanimous first team WVCA All State pick.  She was a big piece of the success of Waunakee who advanced to the D1 final four.  She had 420 kills and nearly 300 digs.  What is impressive about her game is her efficiency.  There are so many shots in her bag of tricks that its tough for the defense to key in on her.  She will find the open spot and is always smart in an out of system situation.  She will be heading to the ACC and will play for Notre Dame. 

Lauren is another incredibly talented pin for Waunakee. She recently committed to Notre Dame and showed just how versatile she is while at the Sizzle. In the front row, she picked apart her opponents, always seeming to find the weak points in their defense. When she was in the back row, she was quick to read in serve receive and on defense. Lauren is a low-error, high-efficiency athlete who can be relied upon to deliver no matter where she is on the court.

Lauren is a player who is relentless on every point. She has consistently played up at least one age division on very competitive teams. Recently, she was named MVP of the Sports Performance President’s Day tournament in the 17/18 division, a really impressive feat for a sophomore. Her court vision is very high level which she utilizes to earn points and read opponents. Lauren has a high volleyball IQ and is the definition of a six-rotation athlete who adds value on nearly every single point.

Lauren is a pin hitter who really does it all for her team. She is aggressive and lethal as a hitter. She has a huge vertical and a high contact on the ball. Her aggressive choices and solid ball control help her make smart choices while still earning points. Lauren is also a high-level passer in both serve receive and defense. She never misses a beat on the court and is a player who can make an impact every time the ball comes over the net.

Lauren is a player I cannot wait to see continue to impress. She has a high vertical and explosive approach. Her intangibles are equally as impressive as her physical skill, and she is a go-to player who consistently takes on leadership roles. Lauren plays like she has springs in her shoes and makes great split-second decisions with her shot selections. She makes impactful on-court adjustments that help her teams in competitive matches.

Absolutely electric, Lauren Sprague Lauren Sprague 5'9" | OH/DS/L Waunakee | 2027 State WI has been a key six rotation player for Waunakee who looked to have a rebuilding year on paper after losing a strong core of seniors from their state tournament team in 2023.  Sprague is averaging three kills per set and nearly three digs too.  Her approach is fast and she has great court vision on when to use her power or an off speed shot. The Warriors are currently 6-0 in their conference and will be one to watch heading into the postseason with their balance and athleticism.
