Club volleyball is often seen as a venue for the "big city" athletes to showcase their talents to a national audience. Sure, in Nebraska's case, we draw a lot of our club players from Lincoln and Omaha. Some of that is a simple numbers game, after all. However, the growing prevalence of rural competitors in the spring season has been one of the Cornhusker State's most fascinating volleyball developments.

We lean into Nebraska's small-town base as much as possible during the high school campaign. This is where most of the action happens. But the club season has offered increasing opportunities to cover rural gems eager to compete with the rest of the region--and the country. Let's highlight a few of them.

Emerging 2029s are in the spotlight first, but who knows where else this series will go?

Albers Dorn has enjoyed a roaring start to her prep career. She immediately stepped into the Freeman High School starting lineup, producing over 150 kills en route to the Falcons' state title triumph. Her court vision and crafty shots were game-changers at the state tournament, and Albers Dorn's development has accelerated further with Nebraska ONE. She's a six-rotation mainstay with 15 Black whose impact doesn't wane across the back row. The Show Me Qualifier and GPR Bid Tournament provided stark reminders of Albers Dorn's high standing among her small-town peers.

Volleyball prosperity at Malcolm High School and VCNebraska often goes hand-in-hand. Kaczor has perpetuated that storyline with her all-around excellence in the VCNebraska 15 Black lineup. She's an agile, dynamic pin hitter who has locked down both pins during her club tenure with VCN. That adaptability expands whenever Kaczor gets a chance to display her first-contact precision in the middle-back area. The Great Plains Region Bid Tournament brought even more evidence of Kaczor's do-everything attitude.

We clearly couldn't leave South Central NE out of this discussion. Wiedel is primed for an extraordinary high school career with Thayer Central, a growing powerhouse on Nebraska's rural circuit. But Wiedel has also distinguished herself with South Central NE 15 Black while helping the team nab a GJNC bid via the Great Plains Region. Wiedel's quick hands at the setter spot were crucial during 15 Black's climb to the regional podium. She can also elevate her team's floor defense and even take some swings along the net, too. Look for a little of everything from Wiedel in Indianapolis.

The Blair Bears often loom large among the Omaha-area clubs. Bruck adds to the list with her invaluable frontcourt presence with Premier Nebraska 15 Black. We most recently saw Bruck patrol the net during 15 Black's unblemished run through the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Bruck has seemingly infinite positional range, as she spent plenty of time on the pin as a freshman with Blair. That productive prep tenure hasn't slowed her progress at the middle blocker spot with Premier Nebraska, and we can't wait to see which spot takes precedence at GJNC.

Antelope Volleyball Club has garnered several mentions in recent features, particularly after the group's fruitful trip to the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Hansen is an incredibly versatile contributor to AVC 15 Blue's smooth operation. This trend emerged in her debut season at Broken Bow, as Hansen churned out 3.8 assists per set to go along with a handful of kills in the front row. This is a classic setter-hitter athlete who can do whatever is needed to boost 15 Blue's starting lineup, and her ascent should continue with the Indians this fall.

We're heading way out west for this one. WyoBraska Sky's top 16s squad has quietly been tearing it up on the western Nebraska scene, and Sherbeyn sets the tone as a leading terminator. It was impossible to ignore Sherbeyn's freshman numbers with Valentine, where she tallied a whopping 412 kills to pace the Badgers. That has translated to instant success at WyoBraska while crossing into the Rocky Mountain Region for club competition. Sherbeyn's ceiling elevates with every rep.

Our last stop of this feature takes us to Nebraska Juniors, another club known for pulling in small-town gems. Graham is a multi-sport standout for Elmwood-Murdock who brings her all-around defensive prowess to the volleyball court with Nebraska Juniors. She has led 15 Black's floor defense in the contrasting jersey while also stepping in as a reliable secondary setter. It's exactly what we'd expect from an Elmwood-Murdock athlete, given the Knights' recent success on Nebraska's prep stage.
