Under The Radar 27s On The Pins You Need To Know

We're into April, more than halfway through club season. Most, if not all, of the class of ‘26 have found their homes or, at the very least, are well on their way to sign in the late period before GJNCs happen in a month. Let's put the focus on the class of 2027, where there are a bunch of under-the-radar kids that should be receiving a bit more publicity because of what they bring to the table. Here are five pin attackers from around the state that should make an impact for someone needing their skill sets in the fall of ‘27.    Audrey is a lefty banger that has all of the shots in the book and is already accustomed to high-level match play and training. Her size makes her a great blocker, as those long arms of hers make attackers think twice. While attacking, her max reach and ability to hit any shot in any situation allows her to be placed in any team situation—-from full-time right side to a three rotation option.     Springy and terminal, Avery is one of the highest leapers remaining in this recruiting class. Able to attack from both pins with equal pace and placement, Miss Walter uses brute strength and an innate ability to outjump and out-athlete the blockers she goes against. Currently quite adept at the three-rotation pin attacker position, her place on Circle's top 18s team proves that her athleticism has carried her quite far.     Explosive and already familiar with a faster offense at the open level, Paige plays for the best high school program in the Evansville area and one of the top teams in the MEPL at KiVA. Her court vision is her main positive in her skill set, as that skill alone has her as one of the better outside hitting options available in this class. I'd like to see a bit more ball control from her on serve receive as well as on floor defense before I make a full evaluation. For now, she's a serviceable pin attacker that has all of the shots in the book.     Part of a strong high school program at Silver Creek, Layla is an undersized and overachieving outside hitter that can do everything a six-rotation pin attacker can do at the next level. Size might be an issue for some, but she more than makes up for it with smarts, athleticism and a high volleyball IQ. I wouldn't be surprised if she played a little outdoor ball during her career thus far, as a lot of her skills can carry over to the sand game.     With heavy pace on the ball and strong serve receive skills, Makayla will be a steal for anyone looking for a six-rotation outside for the next level. Already accustomed to high-end play at both the high school and club levels, Miss Moulton is an underrated outside that coaches covet because she does all of the little things well, and without a lot of coaxing from the coaching staff. She does her job, does it well, and can be coached up to get the job done. She's a nice departure from the average outside hitter here in Indiana—-no nonsense, no flash, no “look at me” vibes. Smaller schools will find Makayla as someone you build a program around.
