Much like her aforementioned peers, Layla has been a consistent performer for a consistently strong program over the last two years, notching 342 kills over the last two seasons at Silver Creek High School. Undersized for an outside hitter at 5’8″, Wheatley possess a combination of athleticism, touch, and volleyball IQ that makes her a threat in the attack. Wheatley has some power in her game, too, showing the ability to take big swings at the pin. After finishing her junior season second on the team in kills, Wheatley should be the primary option in the attack for the Dragons in 2026.

Part of a strong high school program at Silver Creek, Layla is an undersized and overachieving outside hitter that can do everything a six-rotation pin attacker can do at the next level. Size might be an issue for some, but she more than makes up for it with smarts, athleticism and a high volleyball IQ. I wouldn’t be surprised if she played a little outdoor ball during her career thus far, as a lot of her skills can carry over to the sand game.
