Arizona’s Rising Right Sides: Top 2028 Oppos

Arizona's 2028 class continues to impress across every position, but the right side group has quietly become one of the most intriguing and impactful groups in the state. These athletes bring a unique combination of size, versatility, athleticism, and high volleyball IQ that makes them incredibly valuable on both sides of the ball. From dominant blocking presences to terminal attackers who can take over matches offensively, this class of opposites is loaded with talent and upside.   What stands out most about many of these players is their ability to impact the game beyond just attacking. We're seeing right sides who can defend, transition quickly, close blocks against elite pins, and stay composed in high-pressure situations. Several of these athletes are already proving they can compete at a high level against older competition while continuing to develop physically and technically.   The opposite position has evolved into one of the most important spots on the floor, and Arizona's 2028 group is filled with athletes embracing that role at a high level. Whether it's explosive arm swings, high-level blocking instincts, or six-rotation versatility, these players continue to separate themselves every time they step on the court.   Take a look at some of the rising right sides in Arizona's 2028 class that continue to turn heads and make major impacts throughout club season.    [player_tooltip player_id='784705' first='Nikolina' last='Djordjevich'] has put together an impressive season for the 16 Thunder squad, proving herself to be one of the team's most dependable offensive weapons on the right side. She's been especially effective in quick-tempo situations, consistently terminating fast back sets with confidence, precision, and a powerful arm swing. Her intentional approach and ability to stay available offensively make her a constant threat in transition.   Beyond the physicality, she plays with composure and confidence, giving her team someone they can rely on in key moments. She's continued to showcase why she's such an impactful piece for this Thunder team throughout the season.     [player_tooltip player_id='821730' first='Aileen' last='Nimijan'] is one of the most impactful front-row players in her age group, and it's easy to see why. Her versatility allows her to excel at both middle and right side, giving her the ability to influence the match in multiple ways. She's a strong presence at the net with an effective block and a dynamic attack from either position.   What really stands out is her quick footwork and explosive movement — it's obvious she puts in a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes. With her athleticism, skill set, and ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball, she's already shaping up to be one of the most highly sought-after recruits in her class.     [player_tooltip player_id='962832' first='Morgan' last='Thorne'] has continued to stand out for her AZ Sky squad this season for a variety of reasons, even while battling through injuries along the way. She's the type of player who can terminate from either pin and consistently puts pressure on opponents with her ability to score in key moments.   Her transition work is impressive, she stays available offensively, and she does a great job pressing over the net and sealing blocks defensively. Morgan's toughness, versatility, and competitive mindset have all been on display this club season, and we're excited to continue watching her development moving forward.     [player_tooltip player_id='886724' first='Grace' last='Gelder'] possesses one of the quickest arm swings on the right side in her class, and it consistently separates her from her peers. She generates impressive whip and power on the ball while showing the ability to score in a variety of ways. Her blocking presence has also been a major asset for her team this season, as she does an excellent job pressing over the net and impacting opponents offensively.   What makes Grace especially valuable is her versatility — she can terminate from anywhere across the front row, making her a true triple threat offensively. No matter where she's needed on the court, she consistently finds ways to make an impact and get the job done.     [player_tooltip player_id='786065' first='Ava' last='Romero'] has consistently shown just how impactful she can be on the court. She's an intelligent front-row player who understands how to score from virtually anywhere, and her versatility has been on full display this season as we've seen her succeed at both middle and pin. No matter where she's placed, she finds ways to make a difference.   She's a strong blocking presence at the net, moves with clean and efficient footwork, and brings a steady offensive presence every time she steps on the floor. Her ability to generate a reliable, hard swing while also making smart decisions offensively separates her from many players in her class. Combined with her court awareness and overall feel for the game, Ava continues to prove she's a high-level talent with the ability to impact matches in multiple ways.     [player_tooltip player_id='916085' first='Devi' last='Thomas'] has absolutely impressed us this season with both her athleticism and relentless mentality. She's the definition of a high-motor athlete — a true go-getter whose effort and intensity immediately stand out every time she steps on the court. Whether she's playing middle or right side, she competes at full speed and brings a level of energy that impacts the entire match.   She's especially dangerous on overpasses, does an excellent job timing her block, and uses her athleticism exceptionally well at the net. Her vertical and explosiveness allow her to score over even well-formed blocks, making her a constant offensive threat. Combined with her attitude, competitiveness, and willingness to do whatever her team needs, Devi continues to establish herself as one of the more exciting front-row players to watch in her class.     [player_tooltip player_id='819909' first='Mathilde' last='Gardner'] first caught our attention during Scottsdale Christian's impressive state championship run, where she played a major role on the right side and consistently impacted matches with her energy, composure, and physical presence at the net. She carried that same level of intensity seamlessly into club season, continuing to establish herself as one of the more reliable and disciplined right sides in her class.   What stands out most about Gardner is her ability to read hitters and make smart, controlled decisions as a blocker. She does a great job sealing seams, staying disciplined with her hands, and consistently making life difficult for opposing attackers. Offensively, she brings versatility and a high volleyball IQ to the pin. She's capable of scoring in multiple ways, moves the ball around effectively, and has the full shot arsenal you want to see from a high-level right side.   As the season continues, we fully expect Mathilde to keep making a major impact both in club and once school volleyball rolls back around.     [player_tooltip player_id='888805' first='Chloe' last='Buze'] is another athlete we've been especially excited to follow this season. After finding success as a middle in previous years, she's made a really impressive transition over to the right side — and it's clear the move is paying off. Her experience in the middle has translated well defensively, as she's become a major presence on the block with strong timing, disciplined hands, and the ability to close seams effectively.   Offensively, you can see her continuing to grow more confident and comfortable in the position every weekend. She's really started to find her rhythm and timing as an attacker, and her physicality makes her a difficult matchup for opponents. As she continues gaining experience on the right side, Chloe has all the tools to develop into a major threat and an impact player at a high level.     [player_tooltip player_id='888828' first='Laci' last='Noice'] has continued to make a major impact for her Rev squad this season. One thing that immediately stands out is how polished and effective her line shot is — she's able to place the ball with confidence and precision, making her difficult to defend in key moments. Defensively, she's come up with timely blocks when her team has needed them most, showing strong instincts and composure under pressure.   What also separates Laci is the intention behind every attack. She approaches aggressively, swings with purpose, and consistently stays available offensively. It's obvious her setters trust her in big situations, and she's proven capable of delivering momentum-shifting plays throughout matches.     [player_tooltip player_id='942076' first='Abby' last='Lara'] is an absolute weapon on the right side. She attacks the cross-court shot into zone one with impressive power and confidence, consistently putting defenders in difficult positions. What makes her especially dangerous is her versatility — she's just as impactful out of the middle, where her explosiveness and ability to stay available offensively continue to create matchup problems.   Abby has proven herself to be a reliable scoring option for her team in multiple rotations. She approaches aggressively every time she goes up to attack, gets off the floor incredibly well, and plays with the kind of physicality that immediately stands out. Her combination of power, athleticism, and offensive consistency makes her a major force at the net.     [player_tooltip player_id='877792' first='Tehya' last='Ajei'] has quickly emerged as an up-and-coming force for her team this season. Competing up on an 18s roster gave her the opportunity to elevate her game, and she's taken full advantage of it while continuing to grow as both a middle and right side attacker. The experience against older competition has clearly accelerated her development and confidence on the court.   Tehya stands out with her explosiveness offensively and her aggressive mentality every time she goes up to attack. She's constantly looking to score, works hard to stay available in transition, and competes with a relentless motor that reflects her strong work ethic. Her quick arm swing allows her to generate impressive pace on the ball, making her a difficult hitter to slow down once she gets in rhythm.   Looking ahead to the upcoming high school season, we're excited to see the impact she's going to make at Chandler Prep. With her athleticism, versatility, and continued growth, Tehya has all the tools to become a major force this year.     [player_tooltip player_id='916939' first='Makenzie' last='Culmer'] proved herself to be a true six-rotation force for her team this season. She consistently impacted the game in every phase, standing out with her defensive range, steady serve receive, and ability to contribute at a high level from start to finish. Her composure and all-around skill set made her a player her team could rely on in every rotation.   At the net, Makenzie was just as impactful. She served as a major presence both offensively and defensively, providing strong blocking, smart reads, and reliable scoring opportunities in key moments. What makes her especially valuable is how complete her game is — it's rare to find a right side who can truly contribute across all six rotations the way she does, and she's continued to prove she can handle that role at a high level.     This explosive lefty has continued to make a major impression on us throughout the season. [player_tooltip player_id='891412' first='Kira' last='Bunger'] a true terminal attacker with the ability to completely shift the momentum of a match in just a few swings. Her arm is dynamic, her offensive instincts are advanced, and she consistently finds ways to score against tough defenses from the right side.   What makes her especially intriguing is her versatility offensively. Not only is she dangerous on the right, but she's also shown the ability to terminate effectively from the outside as a lefty — something that creates unique matchup challenges for opponents.
