Hoosiers At GJNCs: 16 USA Athletes To Watch

Having GJNCs for the 14s through the 17s age group in Indianapolis has its advantages. First, it's local for me. Second, the who's who of Indiana-based recruits have qualified for this national tournament, bringing some of the best and brightest in multiple graduating classes to one location. Third, we get to see how those recruits stack up against the best the country has to offer. Here are five players from Team Indiana's 16.1 that qualified into the USA division that should be turning plenty of recruiting heads this summer and beyond.    Fast and athletic, Miss Hyde is a speed demon on the court as a setter. She'll go through walls to put her second contact on each and every pass, and has worked diligently this spring to make those sets hittable for her attackers. Her size might be a setback for some looking for a 5-1 setter for the next level, but she has the tools and the talent to be part of a setting cadre in the fall of 2028 in any capacity.     As a solid six-rotation option on the outside, Hayden's ball control, read-and-react defensive posture and ability to minimize errors on the attack will carry her far in her recruiting journey. To know that Hayden is a plug-and-play option on the outside at this level probably puts her coaches at ease—-you don't have to worry about Miss Reeves getting the job done. Adding her to an outside hitting group at the next level seems a no-brainer, as she's as much of a six-rotation outside as she is a solid defensive addition to any position group.     They say that “you can't teach six feet”, which is true. But there are a lot of 6'+ kids out there that need PLENTY of coaching and motivation. Karleigh is NOT one of those kids. Long, lean and always ready to produce kills on cue, Miss Smith is an active and athletic middle that can take over offensively and defensively at a moment's notice. No motivation required for this one, as her work in both our showcases and during high-level club play this spring easily make her one of the top middles in this class.     Springy, quick-footed and an arm built for long-term attacking, Brynn is a lefty banger who can hammer away at all angles and against all types of blocks in front of her. Her transition, approach and overall athleticism looks faster than most, making her one of the better options on the right pin. I like that whip-like arm swing of hers, as her hands goes through the contact zone with authority. Between the training at HSE and her play this spring, I would not be surprised if she was one of the first right sides off of my recruiting board to receive a high-end commitment for the next level.     An under-the-radar middle if there ever was one, Ava is a solid M2 option that has a strong and raw athletic component to her game. Long enough to block regularly and athletic enough to terminate all types of sets in the middle, Miss Spradling is a diamond-in-the-rough type of player that has gone unnoticed for too long. She could probably couple as a right side as well, as her two-footed approach and solid blocking technique is above average for her size.
