Teams from Texas will have a good opportunity to do so this weekend, when one of the most competitive warm-up tournaments in the Houston area, the FAST Pre Nationals will be held. The event will go on from Saturday to Sunday in three venues in the area, reuniting around 100 club teams, which are split into six age groups.

Koonsen will be with the HJV 15 Elite team that will face older competition in the 17s Division. She doubles up as a setter and right side hitter for them, offering versatility and quality on the right side for her team. Her playmaking is very mature and consistent and keeps the team in a strong offensive rhythm. Koonsen also stands out offensively, making great use of her length and demonstrating excellent vision to pick the right shots. Her all-around game is another of her strengths, as she also thrives with her serving, blocking and defense.

Pinkston and her [program_tooltip program_id='745880' first='Houston' last='Stellar'] 16 Elite team will appear in the 17s Division this weekend. A lefty, she's not the tallest, but is very explosive, making contact with the ball at a very high point and putting a lot of pressure into her swings. Pinkston is at her best when hitting a quicker set on the right that allows her to fully explore gaps in the block, and she can do it efficiently even without a full approach in transition plays. Her court vision is truly impressive, as most of her swings touch the floor untouched by blockers or defenders.

Murray is part of the [program_tooltip program_id='462263' first='TAV' last='Houston'] 17 Black J team that will play in the 17s Division. A power hitter, she can play on both pins, but is probably at her best on the right, where she can have her focus almost entirely on scoring points. Murray makes the most of her six-foot frame to overcome blockers at the net and is always very intentional with her swings, aiming for open spots on the court. She does very well when hitting a quicker set on the right, but also does well in out-of-system plays, using every bit of her length to her advantage. Murray is also a very effective blocker who reads opponents efficiently and times her jumps very well.
