Summer is all about growth. For the class of 2029, this is a big year, and a lot is happening.

For setters, this summer is all about development. We will see each setter continue to clean up their footwork, make quicker decisions, and grow in confidence. Things like learning how to get their middles more involved become important. Setters will start reading defenses better, making adjustments, and understanding how to create opportunities for their hitters. The game starts to slow down for them, even as everything around them gets faster.

What I am excited for in this class is that I am already seeing so much growth and elite gameplay. They are stepping onto the court knowing that they need to be leaders and vocal in the game. These are a few setters who continue to catch my attention as they take those next steps in their development.

[player_tooltip player_id='885389' first='Tenley' last='Anderson'] is a top setter who is already catching attention. I know for me, I have been finding her a lot this season. Tenley already stands out for how comfortable and confident she is on the court. She isn't forcing the ball to one player. Instead, she moves it around, finding her middles, and creates opportunities for her pins. She lets the game come to her and does a nice job keeping the offense balanced. For a young setter, that's hard to ignore. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='905310' first='Caroline' last='Nelsen'] had ended up in my notepad more than once this season. Caroline is a setter who handles pressure and high-speed matches well. It didn't matter if she won the play or made an error; she remained focused. I like that about her game. She kept competing and kept finding ways to give her hitters opportunities. She also does a nice job not locking in on one hitter. Caroline trusts the players around her and continues to find ways to keep everyone involved in the offense. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

When [player_tooltip player_id='755656' first='Raegan' last='Killoran'] is on the court, I really make it a point to get to her court. Every time I watch Raegan, she keeps getting better, er not just in the game but in her mental mindset as well. She adjusts; really, we'll never let one play affect the game. She works hard to create opportunities for her teammates and is becoming more confident in her decisions throughout a match. This is what coaches look for in a setter. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='742968' first='Hadley' last='Marti'] is one of those setters that makes you watch for a few extra rallies. I found myself paying attention to how Hadley handled different situations. She didn't seem rushed, and she looked comfortable making choices with the ball. For someone this young, that's a really good sign. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

The more I watched [player_tooltip player_id='735490' first='Ibis' last='Terrones'], the more I understood why her teammates trust her. She has a calmness about her that is hard to teach. There wasn't a lot of second-guessing. She made her decision and went with it. As a setter, that's important.~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='767769' first='Aly' last='Fischer'] is one of those players where I seemed to notice something different every time I watched her. Sometimes it was the confidence. Sometimes it was how she handled a tough situation. Whatever it was, she kept giving me reasons to pay attention, and that's a good sign for any young setter. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='850341' first='Hadley' last='Borgen'] has a presence on the court that I like. She isn't afraid to communicate, and she wants to be involved in every point. Those things matter at the setter position. The more I watched her this season, the more I appreciated the confidence she brought to the court. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
