New to the Radar: 2028s Making Their Ranking Debut

While we have had the opportunity to see many of these players compete, we just simply haven't had the chance to write about all of them yet. Their strong play, continued development, and dedication to their craft have earned them spots in the rankings and deserve our recognition. Here are a few of the talented 2028s who recently joined the list and are making a name for themselves. She moves well, has quick feet, and gets on the ball in a hurry. One of my favorite things about watching her is the way she attacks the line. She can absolutely hammer that shot and makes opponents pay when they leave her an opening. What has really stands out about KinKead, though, is how much she has grown her all around game. She has become more consistent in both serve receive and defense. She reads the game well, does a good job in off blocker coverage, is solid in middle back, and consistently sets a good block. She is the kind of player you can leave on the floor for all six rotations and trust to make plays.     I have had the chance to watch Rivard play a few times this year, and she has spent that time in the libero jersey. She has quick feet, communicates well, and plays with a competitive edge that you love to see. She never gives up on a ball and is willing to chase down anything to keep the ball alive. She reads the game well and does an especially nice job covering tips, often seeming to be in the right place at the right time. Her speed and hustle make her a wanted presence in the back row.     Laffond is an outside with a heavy arm and the ability to score quickly. She uses her height and vertical well, getting on top of the ball and delivering attacks that can leave opponents stunned. Over the last two years with Vital, she has really expanded her all around game. She has become a reliable defender, is comfortable attacking the bic, and does a nice job at the net with a solid block. Her growth in every aspect of the game has made her much more than just a big hitter and makes her that cherished 6 rotation hitter that coaches covet.     I saw Cuevas play in March and right away discovered that she is a quick, athletic setter with a fast release and a high volleyball IQ. She consistently puts her hitters in positions to be successful. Her movement and court awareness allow her to track down balls all over the court and keep plays alive that many setters simply can't get to. She is also a solid defender. Because she reads the game so well and moves with intent, she often puts herself in position to come up with big digs and saves. Her ability to run an offense while contributing defensively makes her a valuable asset on the court.     Weber is a middle who has found success on both the high school and club courts. She has good length, a strong reach, and has really evolved in the position. She moves well from side to side, transitions quickly, and does a good job staying out of the setter's way. One thing that stands out is how well she covers her pin hitters. She provides solid coverage and does a great job recycling balls that come back off the block to give her team second chances. Defensively, she is a presence at the net and consistently puts up a strong block. Her understanding of the position and willingness to do the little things make her valuable any time she is on the court.
