North Country Rising: AAU Wave 2, Day 2 15u Standouts

Youth volleyball has always been strong here and based on what these younger players are showcasing, clearly that is not changing anytime soon. Every play starts with a pass, and she consistently kept her team in system by staying balanced and strong with her platform. She also did a nice job reading the court and taking the first ball, making transitions easier for the hitters and helping the offense run smoothly. She is dynamic in the middle as she is fast, fluid, and flexible which is basically everything you want in a middle blocker. She moves well along the net, gets up quickly, and has the athleticism to generate kills no matter what is sent her way. I thought she did a great job by making herself available and using her speed and vertical to get on top of the ball and generate kills. She does a great job getting her feet to the ball and consistently delivers a clean set that allows her offense to flow and her attackers to be efficient. What stood out most though was her decision making. She made smart choices, moves the ball around, and kept all of her attackers engaged which led to quite the balanced offense. It's because she is good at what she does. She always seems to find a way to make something happen, even when tracking down an errant ball. What stands out most is how well she reads the defense and understands what her teammates need. She does a great job putting hitters in positions to succeed and consistently gives them the type of ball they need (whether it is a little faster or a little higher) so that they can each be effective. From the pin, she was impressive right away as she is quick to transition and took some big, quick swings that generated points for her team. Honestly, Chauvin is just fun to watch when she gets going. She put up a numerous points for her team on the right side this morning right away giving them an early offensive spark. Rivero is definitely one of the players who stands out. Whether she's setting or attacking, this lefty finds ways to impact every single game. She was solid with her decision making and delivered a consistent ball all morning to her attackers. She also had a big day from the service line, going on some huge serving runs that teams could not recover from. She is a taller setter with really good court vision, is quick, and can move the ball around well to all of her attackers. She looks comfortable running a 5-1 and honestly seems to be in her element in that position, giving her team a steady, consistent leader. She also makes an impact at the net with a solid block on the right side, which helps take away some of the big swings from opposing outsides. M1 went 2-1 again on the day and is still chasing the gold medal as they head into tomorrow's re-pooling of day 3 in the premier division.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
