Middles play such important roles within their teams, both offensively and defensively. There is always something being asked of them to the point where they barely have time to think. From being in charge of closing any hole in the block, to a rapid transition, and always trying to make themselves an option offensively. Middles have to have quick thinking as well as quick feet. Here are some uncommitted middles that I think do an extremely good job of helping out their teams in more ways than one.

If you don't already know [player_tooltip player_id='826328' first='Halle' last='Comer'], you're going to need to remember the name. Although she might not be the tallest amongst other middles, that doesn't stop her from going toe to toe with the best. Comer always seems to find a way to quickly connect with her setters, making her a prime offensive option. The middle blocker has played a key role in her club team's success through the years. Her most notable tournament was just last year when she helped her team to a 2nd place finish at the AAU Nationals in Orlando. I am extremely excited to see what Comer makes of her final high school and club season.

Skyler is a versatile middle with a fast swing, high IQ, and phenomenal range. She never shies away from a challenge and always makes herself an option; she always knows how to put the ball away. VanDerPol was able to help her club team secure a USA bid to the GJNC in Indy. With her insane ability to rise to any occasion and battle through the toughest of teams, I am confident Skyler will be turning some heads next week.

With her height, block touch, and speed, [player_tooltip player_id='555746' first='Clare' last='Yeggy'] has the perfect trifecta as a middle.

Yeggy was a huge help to both her club team and high school team this past year. Her versatility and ability to adapt make her an asset no matter where you put her on the court. This past season, Yeggy was able to rack up the most blocks on her team by a landslide. She also had one of the highest hitting percentages on the team, especially when it came to the State Tournament. With PV losing senior Isabelle Kremer and Clare going into her senior year, this fall is going to be her season.

I have had the privilege of seeing Kaylin grow as an athlete since her 13s season, and this is another player that I think is extremely underrated. She has always played with so much composure, even prior to high school. Although she isn't normally one to make the flashiest play, she is one of the most consistent hitters I've seen. She knows what needs to be done and always finds a way to get the kill. She is always looking for ways to improve and will do whatever it takes to help her team succeed.

[player_tooltip player_id='751769' first='Benita' last='Anyanwu'] has done a phenomenal job showcasing her speed and athleticism at the net this season. Anyanwu has proven to be one of the stronger middles in the Iowa City area. Benita has been a very strong piece of Linn-Mar's lineup since her sophomore year. The junior makes her presence known no matter where she is on the court. With Linn-Mar graduating 9 seniors, I think this will be the year we hear a lot more about Anyanwu.

I think that this high school season is going to be big for [player_tooltip player_id='949060' first='Reece' last='Harrell']. This middle is a key component of her school's revival. Bettendorf has been in the shadows of other schools in the MAC, like North Scott, PV, and Assumption. However, some pieces were brought in, and players stepped up, and Harrell was one of those players. With a heavy arm and a monster block, she was a major asset for the Bulldogs. She has also found great success with her Iowa Select team in the 2026 season. Harrell will even be competing in the USA division at the GJNC starting on 6/30.
