They have to shut down blocks against some of the best outside hitters in the country, stay available on transition, and find ways to score even when the offense isn't perfectly in system. It's a position that requires physicality and a high volleyball IQ.

A few right pins continued to stand out for different reasons throughout the showcase. Some scored points with heavy right-hand strokes. Some made their biggest impact by taking away angles at the net, slowing attacks with good block touches or turning broken plays into scoring opportunities. What unites them is their ability to influence games long after the ball has crossed the net.

The athletes below made their way onto this list due to the complete games they put together. They were some of the right pins making the most noise during the whole showcase with their blocking ability, efficient transition, and purposeful attacking and competing through every rally.

Audrey Pearce looked at home with the duties that come with playing on the right-hand side. She always had an out-of-system option for her setter and never looked rushed when the ball was off the net. She did a nice job seeing the court, working the hands, and changing the angle of her swing instead of attacking into a waiting block. On defense, she set the block early, covered the line, and made the other team's outside hitters earn their points instead of giving them free points. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Ava Lundebye also continued to create offense as she was almost always open in transition. She'd already released off the net and was rebuilding her approach before the defense could reset, as soon as she finished her blocking assignment. That timing gave her setter another scoring option in the scrimmages. I thought she attacked with good range too, mixing pace and location rather than relying on one type of swing, which kept defenders from settling into predictable reads. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='766523' first='Piper' last='Andersson'] played the position with great discipline. She maintained balance on her block closely, collaborated well with her middle to take away the seam, and trusted her hands rather than reaching over the net. Offensively, she was patient. She kept her approach, stayed behind the ball, and made changes based on what the block presented. She didn't make tough swings; she looked for higher-percentage attacks to keep her offense going. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Logan Ammons did a great job of tying every phase of the rally together. She easily moved from defense to attack, quickly found her stride, and was available even in the longest of rallies. What was more striking was how well she attacked the right side against a set block. She wasn't just trying to muscle her way past defenders. She knew where space was, attacked purposefully, and continued to give her team quality scoring chances throughout the showcase. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='948940' first='Mia' last='Mathis'] quietly assembled one of the more complete performances of the showcase. She was consistent with her good hand positioning and drove over the tape, took away attacking angles, and created playable block touches that allowed her defense to stay in system. Once the ball was dug, she immediately became part of the offense again, getting there on time in transition and attacking from a high contact point. With disciplined blocking, smart shot selection, and effective transition work, she was one of the more polished right pins I saw all event long. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

Thank you to all my readers for making this journey possible.
