Tomorrow morning, first serve is finally here for the American Division at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships. Teams reached this stage by winning a qualifier (or, in some cases, finishing runner-up) or by earning one of their region's allocated bids. Here's a look at the Kansas and Missouri teams ready to begin their chase for a national championship.

Three teams from my coverage area will compete in the American Division, with one representing Gateway and two coming from the Heart of America (HOA) Region.

Pool 1 features HPSTL 16 Orange, which earned one of Gateway's two regional bids. The other was claimed by HP Illinois. Orange spent much of the qualifier season competing in the Liberty Division, highlighted by a fifth-place finish that narrowly missed bid territory. Outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='964024' first='Harper' last='Bauer'] is a reliable point scorer, while libero [player_tooltip player_id='630719' first='Samantha' last='O'Day'] brings energy and consistency to the back row.

417 Mo Jrs. 16 Elite opens play in Pool 5 after earning its bid through regional competition. They split much of their spring between the Liberty and USA divisions, putting together several top-10 finishes along the way. [player_tooltip player_id='729521' first='Blair' last='Bough'] possesses a dynamic arm and does an excellent job of attacking every part of the court, making her a difficult player to defend.

KNVBC 16.1 Showtime begins its tournament in Pool 12 after receiving a bid that returned to the region. This is a scrappy, hard-working group that has continued to improve throughout the spring. [player_tooltip player_id='860239' first='Caityn' last='Asmann'] has been a key contributor from the right side, giving the offense added balance while expanding her game with an effective back-row attack.

Four area teams earned spots in the American Division.

We'll start with 573 17 Premier C, which opens play in Pool 5. Their trip to Sunshine couldn't have gone much better, as they captured the championship to secure their bid. They followed that performance by moving into the Liberty Division, where they recorded multiple fifth-place finishes against strong competition. [player_tooltip player_id='526576' first='Kaya' last='Dercher'] has established herself as a high-level attacker, while libero [player_tooltip player_id='593705' first='Kendall' last='Wood'] provides steady leadership and outstanding defensive play in the back row.

[program_tooltip program_id='428797' first='Pursuit' last=''] 17 National will represent the Gateway Region in Pool 8 after earning one of the region's bids. Throughout the qualifier season, they challenged themselves by competing primarily in the USA and Open divisions. The Cape Girardeau club features a strong setter-middle connection with Ashtyn Van de Ven and [player_tooltip player_id='809612' first='Ella' last='Pierce'], giving the offense a reliable combination in the middle.

Pool 12 welcomes KNVBC 17 Lakers, which received a bid that returned to the region. They spent much of the spring competing in the Liberty Division and consistently produced top-10 finishes. [player_tooltip player_id='748145' first='Dasno' last='Mills'] is a player who caught my attention earlier this season, and I'm looking forward to seeing how her game translates to the national stage.

Metro 17 Purple rounds out the group in Pool 15 after earning one of the Heart of America bids. They enjoyed a strong Liberty campaign, collecting several top-10 finishes while also testing themselves against USA Division competition throughout the spring. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='485619' first='Brecklyn' last='Johnson'] does an excellent job directing the offense, but what really stands out on film is her defensive work in the back row. Her instincts, court coverage, and willingness to extend rallies make her a valuable two-way player.

Best of luck to all seven teams as they take the floor tomorrow. The road to a national championship begins with the first whistle, and these Kansas and Missouri squads have every opportunity to make some noise in Indianapolis.
