USAV Showcase 2 Backcourt Breakdown: Bros on our Radar

A strong libero can stabilize a team and give the offense the chance to run at a higher level. A struggling libero can derail a team quickly. While many of the things they do rarely show up on the stat sheet , their value is widely felt. Below are a few of the liberos who stood out with their consistency, effort, and ability to impact the game from the back row. She was solid in serve receive, bringing steady ball control to the backrow so her team could stay in system and run an offense. One area where she really stood out was in her block coverage. She stays low and balanced, establishes a strong platform early, and does a solid job delivering accurate passes to target. Defensively, she reads the game well and uses efficient footwork to get herself into position. Rather than diving, Hancock stays on her feet and runs through balls whenever possible which allows her to maintain control and quickly transition on to the next play. She uses good angles in her platform to be effective in serve receive. In addition, she has the ability to move her hips and get behind the ball which allows her to deliver consistent passes to target. She is also consistent and effective in out of system setting. Every play starts with a pass, and it's clear she has put in solid effort to develop her craft. She reads early, moves quickly, and holds a steady, controlled platform. She communicated well on the court and consistently puts herself in good defensive position. She showed strong court presence and awareness by not getting stuck behind the block and instead stayed active and ready to play effective defense. She is confident using her hands on defense, especially on free balls, which gives her more control and allows her to increase the tempo of the game. She is also very solid with her free ball placement, whether delivering to target for the setter or when setting up her pins in out of system situations. Defensively, she moves with efficient, controlled footwork and avoids unnecessary steps which allow her to stay composed and disciplined on the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
