Caroline rocketed up from 189 to 135 in the rankings. She first appeared on the radar with a top performer award at a Prep Dig showcase. She also snagged the libero of the year award in the Cardinal District as well as first team all district and second team all Region.

As a libero she shows good hands for setting. Early in her career she was a setter. She moves well in the back row leading her team in digs. She also breaks out a good serve listing second on the team in aces. This year she faced the challenge playing for Metro National.

Last year Woodbridge lost in the first round of the Virginia Class 6 Regionals to Mountain View. With many of their players gaining one more year of experience they should improve upon that this season.

Watching Caroline play libero made me wonder if she set early in her career. She showed some soft hands, including putting up an out of system back set. She was also one of many Virginia players at this year’s USAV Prep Dig showcase identified as a top performer.

Playing for Woodbridge High she earned libero of the year accolades for the Cardinal District. She also earned first team all district and second team All Region. And after I wrote about her setting I learned that she was the starting setter for Woodbridge her frosh season. That doesn’t surprise me.

It appears lots of versatility exists in her game. Perhaps this coming season she will hit outside.

Freeman is a competitive libero who consistently impacts the game with her effort and instinct. She was solid in serve receive, bringing steady ball control to the backrow so her team could stay in system and run an offense. One area where she really stood out was in her block coverage. She repeatedly recycled several balls to give her team additional chances and scoring opportunities.
