Bluegrass Games Return, with different format than past

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bluegrass Games once again take place in 12 different locations in the Lexington area.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>However, there is a big difference this year with three classes for varsity, two for junior varsity and one for freshmen teams. The A class is for established programs similar to the Open Division in club volleyball while many teams are playing in the B class, which is similar to the National Division for club. The B class is labeled for programs looking to grow and the C class is similar to the USA Division in club. The C class is for building and newer programs looking to build confidence and boost skills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The A class includes two of the Dominant Five in three-time defending state champion Assumption and Mercy, seeded one and two, respectively. Assumption's junior varsity is also playing in the A class. Marcum had been a dominant front row player, but she's been expanding her game during club season. Marcum has developed a sharp cut shot and executes pipe plays with precision. Marcum also puts nice topspin on her jump serves. Her passing has also showed good improvement during club season. Gray added to her repertoire during club season. She has a nice four-step attack approach, extension and finish. She tools blocks with hard and soft swings. Gray attacks seams with precision with go routes, shoots and other routes. Gray also mixes in off shots to the middle. Howard uses a great platform to make smooth two to three-point passes, consistently keeping balls above her waist. Howard takes minimal steps to balls and has shown she can handle well-struck balls. Howard does a nice job backing up plays at the net and makes quality out of system sets. Howard sends sharp float serves to different zones on the court. She only lunges or dives out of necessity, but is generally under control. Keller consistently hustles after balls. Keller can take nice roll shots and hard swings from the back row when University Heights is out of system. She got back into a steady flow during club season. Hershey has been an effective pin hitter in the past and hopes to finish her career with a bang there. She showed great enthusiasm on the court during club season and showed some versatility with a sound jump serve. Williams sends nice shots down lines and puts overpassed balls away from opponents. Williams makes plays at all six positions on the court. She reads hitters well and positions herself to make nice first touches. She makes nice adjustments on redirected balls.
