The middle blocker position continues to change, and this group proved the future in Indiana is in good hands. These athletes already possess the length, athleticism, and physical tools that college coaches want, but what impressed me most was how polished they looked at such a young age. Their footwork, timing, technique, and court awareness reflected quality coaching and hours of training. While they're still early in their recruiting journeys, I'd be surprised if these middles aren't on plenty of college coaches' radar before long.

Long, lean, with a high reach, she has the physical tools that immediately catch your attention. She was consistently effective attacking the 1 and 3 balls by being able to hit both directions, plus she showed the potential to attack behind the setter off one foot; a skill that most middles her age finds awkward. As she continues to develop, learning to be a little more patient on the slide and chasing the set will make that attack even more dangerous. Her communication never wavered, as she constantly talked with teammates and helped keep the energy up on the court. Even during long rallies and demanding drills, her effort never dropped, competing until the end of a grueling two-hour session for the middles. She's a young MB with plenty of upside and the foundation to continue developing into a high-level prospect. No doubt she will be a top middle in the class of 2030.

For a player who is relatively new to the game, her ceiling is incredibly high. At 6'1" (and just an incoming freshman) with a long, athletic frame, she has the ideal build for a middle blocker and pairs it with serious springiness and a high contact point. She played with the confidence of someone far more experienced, never wanting to come off the court and embracing every opportunity to compete. Offensively, she looked comfortable attacking from anywhere along the net, and she also showed the lateral movement and instincts to contribute when blocking. As she continues to develop, improving her spacing and timing on offense will make her even more effective, but the physical tools and competitive mindset are already there. She's a player with tremendous upside and one worth following closely.

The first thing that stands out about her game is the combination of explosive athleticism and confidence she brings to the court. Don't let the 5'9" fool you—she plays much bigger than her height because of her incredible vertical, quickness off the floor, and ability to attack above the net. She has a heavy arm that allows her to put serious pace on the ball and looked comfortable attacking off one foot, creating offense in multiple ways because of her speed and athleticism. What impressed me just as much as her physical ability was her communication—she was easily the most vocal middle in the gym, and I could hear her constantly talking with her setters. As she continues to develop, improving her blocking discipline and not reaching will make her an even tougher presence at the net. Her confidence, timing, and ability to close quickly allowed her to consistently get touches on the block, making her a major presence at the net.

The most imposing player at the showcase, she immediately stood out with her size and ability to control the net. She has the ability to play both middle and right side because she can put up a massive block and create offense from multiple areas. Her blocking was arguably the best in the gym, and her ability to take away space at the net made her a constant challenge for hitters. Offensively, she has a high contact point and will be effective as an M2, where she can attack in front of the setter and put pressure on the defense. As she continues to develop, improving her lateral movement and reading the setter will help her become an even more complete blocker. Beyond her attacking and blocking abilities, she also brings additional value with a dangerous deep float serve and impressive setting ability, allowing her to take the second ball and play free balls with ease.

One of the biggest surprises of the showcase was how much impact she made despite being one of the smaller middles in the gym. I honestly didn't even notice she was 5'6" because of her impressive vertical, athleticism, and ability to play above the net. She was extremely efficient offensively, consistently finding deep corners that are difficult for defenders to handle and making smart decisions with very few errors. She also showed great confidence attacking aggressively on overpasses, taking advantage of opportunities and putting pressure on the defense. Defensively, it was clear she has been taught strong blocking fundamentals—she stayed disciplined, avoided reaching, and did a great job pressing back into zone 6 rather than giving hitters an easy tool. As she continues to develop, adding a consistent slide attack or back 6 will only make her more dangerous. Her athleticism, efficiency, and volleyball IQ make her a player who should not be overlooked.

If you loved this article, please follow my Instagram page, Above The Net Volleyball for exclusive content and behind-the-scenes action.

After following our page, take the next step and subscribe to PrepDig!
