’28 Rankings Update: Top Talent Remains Uncommitted

One scan through the&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://prepdig.com/iowa/rankings/2028-watch-list-2/">UPDATED RANKINGS</a></strong>&nbsp;reveals a whole lot of talent and depth. It's also a group that has two years of high school ball to get better, which is exciting.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Around 20 members of the class have found their college homes. That left quite a few student-athletes in this rankings update still available for next level. And that's OK. That she remained uncommitted despite being ranked No. 12 in the latest Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2028 rankings shouldn't be alarming, however. There's plenty of time for her to find her home on the next level. The right staff will see what Hodge brings to the back row. She's rock solid, consistently delivering for winning programs. She helped Assumption win a state championship last season and Select advance to the USAV Nationals in the summer. Hodge is consistently reliable in serve-receive and thrives in digging up the opposing attack. Her teams win a lot of matches because of her ability to do everything on the court and impact matches throughout six rotations. Assumption took home a state championship last year with her standing out as a sophomore. Select advanced to the USAV Nationals this summer with her starring along the way. Colleges have shown interest in Cotton. Valparaiso, Illinois State, Charleston, Ferris State, Dayton and Drake invited her to camps this summer. It can slow the recruiting process for players at those positions. Fear not, however, as the good ones eventually find college homes. Schluckebier is a good one with the potential to be much better as she continues adding to her game. She's worked hard to make herself a complete volleyballer. Schluckebier gets to her spots and consistently delivers the ball to where her attackers can put it away. She's improved her defense at the net and in the back row. Schluckebier holds up well in serve-receive. She played a key role in Iowa City West reaching the state tournament last year for the first time since 2016. She followed that up by helping Iowa Premier advance to the USAV Nationals in the open division during the summer. Otte is a powerful two-way middle with the opportunity to add even more physicality to her game as she matures. She finishes points with a flourish and throws up an intimidating block. A good feel for match flow and strong connection with her setters adds to her efficiency. It's a rock-solid platform that generates consistency in serve-receive. Lateral quickness and sharp reflexes lead to proper positioning against the opposing attack. Ruddy flows well with the action and covers a lot of ground, including a knack for being behind the block. She commands the back row with excellent communication in keeping the team on the same page. Ruddy has a chance to raise her stock with a big junior year for a Waukee team that should be among the state's top contenders.
