7AA Leaders to Watch in Minnesota

The 7AA volleyball season is just around the corner, and there are plenty of familiar names expected to step into big roles this fall. These are the players we expect to lead their teams, make an impact in key moments, and stand out throughout the season. Whether they are returning stars, experienced leaders, or players ready to take the next step, these athletes will be ones to watch as the race for 7AA heats up. I always love hearing from players, especially Minnesota athletes and I'm always looking for new players to watch and follow!    Micken is a fun middle to watch, especially when she is on the move. She runs a variety of routes into the middle, and her front slide off one foot is probably my favorite. She brings versatility to the offense and can attack the 1 with both speed and power. She has a knack for finding open space and consistently seems to find the floor for a kill. She will be a big part of Esko's offense this season and we can't wait to see her back in action.     Asuma is a middle who can pretty much attack from anywhere on the court. She can swing from the pin, attack with power through the middle, and run the slide to the right pin. Her versatility really stands out, especially because she can also score out of system. She can be a valuable option when her team needs to get out of a tough rotation and has the tools to be a go-to attacker when a big swing is needed. We can't wait to see her back on the court next week when Minnesota's first wave of prep games begin.     Vogel is a versatile middle who put together a strong season for Proctor last year, averaging 2.3 kills per set and finishing with 28 blocks. She kept working after the high school season ended continuing to compete with MN North in the offseason. As a middle, she does a great job making herself available and finding open court. She has a fast arm swing and can attack both the quick and the gap, giving her multiple ways to score. We look for her to be a big scoring threat for Proctor this season as well.     Richey is a setter/right side who does a little bit of everything. She can swing and generate kills from both the right and left pins, delivers a clean, hittable ball when setting from the back row, and can put points on the board with her float serve. She is a six rotation player for Hinckley-Finlayson team. After filling that role last season, we expect Richey to take on a similar role again this year as she helps lead a growing program.     Rood has been flying under our radar for far too long. The senior setter put together an impressive stat line last season, recording 785 assists, 19 kills, 58 aces, and 136 digs while helping Rush City to a 10-1 record in the Great River Conference. The Tigers have a strong postseason tradition, making trips to state in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and they will be looking to get back there with Rood at the helm... and we can't wait to watch it all unfold.     I've seen Alleman play a few times now, and she continues to stand out as an athletic and competitive player. She moves quickly laterally and has a fast arm swing, making her a highly effective middle. Last season, she recorded 122 blocks and 110 kills while helping her team to a 14-10 record. This season, we expect more of the same from Alleman as she looks to be a play maker at the net once again.
