This fall, these AAAA pins will assume the new role that comes with senior year. Their teams will need points from them, but they will also need the communication, confidence, and leadership that come from playing on a varsity court.

There are many forms of leadership. It might be calling for the ball after a tough run; dragging a teammate back in after a mistake; bringing energy when the gym is quiet; or just playing the same way at every moment. I'm looking at that with this group right now.

[player_tooltip player_id='396873' first='Natalya' last='Singer'] isn't intimidated by a tough ball. She will take the swing with a block in front of her and come right back after being stopped. I like that mentality from a senior pin. Singer plays with confidence, competes hard, and can be someone teammates look to when they need to get going. Her response when things aren't going well may be just as important as the kills this fall. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='396880' first='Taylor' last='Hagedorn'] is steady. She sees the block and knows when to take a big swing and when to find another way to score. She doesn't look like she's trying to do too much. That carries over to how she can lead this group. Hagedorn has been through varsity volleyball, and it's valuable to have a senior who can settle things down, communicate, and keep everyone working when a match starts to get away from them. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='455618' first='Kaia' last='Rolfsrud'] has some edge to her. She attacks aggressively, wants the ball, and isn't afraid of a big moment. I could see that being a big part of her leadership this season. She's the senior who can raise the energy, challenge the people around her, and keep pushing when the gym needs more. Rolfsrud's competitiveness is a big part of what makes her valuable. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='548299' first='Josslyn' last='Vesledahl'] doesn't get sped up easily. She sees the court, works around the block, and makes something out of a ball that isn't perfectly set for her. I like that calm from a senior. When things get a little sideways, Vesledahl can be the player who gets everyone back on track. She doesn't have to be loud to lead. Her play and how she handles those stretches say plenty. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='492626' first='Ruby' last='Knapp'] is working whether she receives the ball or not. Watch her in coverage, transition, and after the first contact, and she's still part of the play. That's the part of Knapp's game I'd want younger players paying attention to. She works, takes coaching, and doesn't need the set to stay engaged. As a senior, she can set the expectation for what the work should look like every day. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
