Division I, Class AAA, Regions 3 and 4 Players to Have on Radar

These two regions cover the Chattanooga area and extend west toward Nashville. The third region has produced six state championships when Cleveland won consecutive crowns in 2022 and 2023. Rival Bradley Central also owns four with the last one coming in 1994.    Simpson (pictured) not only has great size and athleticism, but a high court IQ. She mixes up her attack speeds as low as 16 miles per hour to as high as 55. Simpson terminates balls a number of ways. She smacks crosses off fakes from teammates and paints back lines with off shots. Simpson improvises well in the air tipping balls to open spots on the court. She attacks seams with precision and can even take quality swings from the back row. Simpson is also valuable on defense with her passing. She makes the simple ones to get the offense into a good rhythm.     Bates can track down balls a number of different ways. She steps back and makes quality over head passes with balls above her head and gets her hands on balls to keep plays alive. Bates reads hitters well and stops in her tracks to make sound two to three-point passes. Bates only lunges when needed. Her ball control needs some work, but it has come around.     Dunn is a scrappy defender for East Hamilton. She executes both overhead and bump passes with precision with a nice rhythm. Dunn does a good job stopping in her tracks and making the simple passes. Dunn also provides great net backup. Dunn does not hide behind blockers.     Young does an outstanding job anticipating where balls are going. She watches the hitters and her blockers then does what she can to beat balls to their destinations on the court. Young lines her body up to balls to make crisp two to three-point passes. She handles well-struck and softer shots to put the Pioneers into a great offensive rhythm. Young also puts across sound line drive serves.     Harvel provides the Stars with scrappy defense. Her feet are always moving, but she does stop in her tracks to use a great platform to make the crisp two to three-point passes. Harvel forms walls around balls and makes the simple passes. She provides good net backup and can execute both overhead and underhand passes with precision.
