Early Season Top Attackers By Class

We're a couple of weeks into our season here in Indiana, and some of the top attackers are REALLY showing out in the early going. The best news is that there are a few from each graduating class, both committed and still available, that are worth the price of admission to go watch. Here are seven attackers from around the state that lead their respective graduating classes in kills in the early going, and what to expect when you watch them dominate.    The Notre Dame commit from the two-time defending 4A champ Chargers is on an epic tear now that she's the primary attacker on EVERY team she's a part of. Sarah's length and all-around play can take over a match, from the attack height with which she touches to behind the base line with an epic serve that scores points on its own. Easily one of the more fun outsides to watch, Sarah's play is the reason for Carroll remaining in the top spot in 4A early on.     The singularly most athletic kid in this article is an SMU commit and can play either pin with ease at the next level. With an attack touch higher than anyone I've seen in this state, Miss Ward controls the attack for her Bruins and keeps Tri-West in the conversation as one of the top teams in 3A volleyball in the early fall. When she attacks, the ball SOUNDS different coming off of her hand. If you watch her live, you'll know what that means first-hand.     One of the more complete players in this or any graduating class, the UCLA commit from the 4A runners-up from a year ago is the top kill producer in the class of ‘28. At no time can anyone find a flaw in her game, and her well-rounded nature (coupled with an insane amount of volleyball acuity) keeps her Quakers within striking distance of another trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in November.     With Trinity Lutheran moving up to class 2A after dominating the last two years at 1A, Rachel is the main attacker for the Cougars and the number 2 kill producer in all of the class of ‘28. She's going to be leaned upon even more now, simply because of TL's lack of size and terminating ability——coupled with an uber-tough schedule preparing them for yet another post-season run. Uncommitted at the writing of this article, Rachel's consistent all-state performance continues this fall to help Trinity Lutheran in a tougher and more balanced 2A class in southern Indiana.     The class of ‘29 has PLENTY of attacking talent, but none bring the maturity or physicality like Gabby. Her all-around game has steadily improved in the last 18 months as well, and her playing up a year in club allowed her to learn quickly that her tough nature and relentless work ethic and drive will mean a lot for the Trojans as the fall progresses. She hits high, hard and heavy, and is the primary attacker for 4A top ten Center Grove.     Another example of an exceptionally well-rounded player is Blaire, whose Boiler Juniors training got her this far in her playing journey. The complete players on the outside are harder and harder to find these days, as positions are more specialized in this era of collegiate volleyball. Blaire sticks to the basics and perfects them; she's a primary-passing, smart-hitting outside hitter that should never come out of the game for any reason, and will carry Rossville in the northern half of 2A this fall.     Lydia's play speaks for itself. West Noble's early success is directly related to Lydia's ability to take any ball set generally in her direction and terminate at will. In-system, out-of-system, front row and back, Miss Mead has all of the shots in the book, and plays with a maturity that certainly doesn't look like what a freshman should look like. We'll be following this young lady's rise this fall and next spring, and her improvement this early in her career will transfer easily to recruiting eyes interested in the all-around talent.
