Final Shoutouts and Tournament Gems from the MN Stock Up Showcase

Every event has those athletes who leave an impression for different reasons. Some were standouts from the moment they stepped on the court, some were players I was seeing for the first time, and others were athletes I had watched before and couldn't help but notice how much they had grown. These are the tournament gems or the players who caught my eye, made a play that stuck with me, or simply showed enough improvement that I felt they deserved to be mentioned. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There is a lot of talent across Minnesota, and one of the best parts of covering these tournaments is discovering new players and watching familiar ones continue to develop. She reads the game well, moves quickly, and covers a lot of ground. I also liked her ability to anticipate tips and dumps which allowed her to get into position and make plays that other defenders might not get to. Lane does a great job seeing the block in front of her and finding ways around it when she needs to. I have seen her play a few times this year and she has impressed me every time. She has a big swing and since she was playing up a year against some very competitive teams got some big time exposure. At the showcase though, it wasn't just her swing that caught my attention. I really liked what I saw from her in serve receive, serving, and her backrow attacking. She moves well, anticipates the ball, and does a nice job getting her platform out early and creating good angles. She was also solid in serve receive and has good float serve. She didn't disappoint. Suchy moves really well and has a quick first step without taking a bunch of extra steps to get where she needs to be. She also does a great job anticipating where the ball is going and reading attackers. She did a really nice job tracking down balls all over the court and showed good range with her out of system sets. I was impressed with how well she moved to the ball on tight passes, turning her body to avoid the net. She has great hands and gets her feet to the ball quickly to deliver clean sets. She moves quickly and isn't afraid to sacrifice her body to make a play. She was all over the court defensively and there were several times when I watched her swoop in or slide across the court to pick up a ball that looked like it was going to drop. She goes after everything. She communicates well, hustles on every play, and is the kind of player who never gives up or seems to take a play off. She moves efficiently in the backcourt, has a solid serve, and was also highly effective attacking from the backrow.
