The Future is Here – Dallas Up Next Top Performers Vol 5

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas Showcases are back!  We had a big event that was held at the Courtside Sports Center on August 8^th in Carrollton, TX  The Dallas Up Next showcase for the middle school classes was amazing! These events always bring together athletes from across the state looking to compete in front of coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. There were tons of awesome players that we evaluated from their awesome production. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. She is listed at 5'0" and plays every inch of that with a first-step quickness and anticipation that turned heads throughout the Up Next Dallas Showcase. She was super fast all over the back row and got to balls that most players her age would have stood up and just watched. Her platform under pace held up cleanly and she passed with location rather than just keeping things alive. What really stood out beyond the skill was the competitive fire. She played every single point like it mattered and that attitude made the people around her better. That is a quality you cannot manufacture at any height. Her approach mechanics were technically sound and the velocity she generated at contact came from proper shoulder loading and creating momentum with great torque rather than just swinging wildly, which tells you the fundamentals have been built the right way. When the block took away her primary angle she adjusted at the point of contact rather than forcing a shot into coverage and that kind of spatial awareness in a player this young is not something you see every day. [program_tooltip program_id='431200' first='Madfrog' last=''] has her developing at a high standard and it was visible in how she competed from the first rep to the last. She is a player to keep a close eye on as the 2031 class develops. [player_tooltip player_id='878623' first='Taylor' last='Brown'] earned hers by showing up on every single play. The effort level she brought to the Up Next Dallas Showcase never dropped, whether she was closing on a block in a scrimmage rally or working through a footwork drill in the skill portion of the day. Her closing angle at the net showed real positional understanding and she committed to the right direction quickly without second-guessing herself. She attacked through the middle with decisiveness and kept the ball in play on her side of the net with a consistency that court coaches took note of across both the individual positional drills and scrimmage portion. The communication she brought to the floor was genuine and constant. Players around her knew where she was and knew she was locked in. That is a harder quality to find than most people realize.
